Quite the opposite. If you watched TV in the 80s you could tell talent was more important than beauty! Now it’s opposite. I’ve never in real life seen so many cops and investigators as smokin hot as they present on TV nowadays. That’s just one example. If you’re not completely hot and young, your chances of success in acting are very limited.

Uglier? No. I think Casting Directors look for the "Everyday-Look," when Casting for Roles in Projects. Perfect Symmetry is not the Status Quo anymore for the Actors.
