@calicuz i remember going to see in the theater when it came out. Packed house, mostly teenagers. And everyone was laughing at the scenes that were supposed to be scary.

The Monster from the Black Lagoon (circa 1940) with Japanese actors who all looked the same, with English sub-titles so you'd know what the monster actually said or was at least thinking, which I always found very helpful!
