Falling Down

Has anyone felt the anger Michael Douglas feels in this film. Stuck in traffic?
People messing with you
meJess · F
Anger is fear turned outward, once that is understood then people’s behaviour is easier to decipher.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@meJess Yes. It's always a negative emotion plus blame.

Road rage = fear plus blame.

I get the impression that a large number of people feel that way, especially in the US. And that in the US a higher than average proportion of them seem to act on it.

Of course that impression might be just because bad news sells better and hence is more visible.

Personally I haven't felt that murderous since 1975, but I have felt a tinge of it on numerous occasions.
SomewhatConfused · 31-35, M
@ninalanyon people are products of their environment. Maturity and age plays a big factor as well.

We need more active and involved citizens like the Frederick Forrest character
SomewhatConfused · 31-35, M
@Slade we need more white supremacists ?
Slade · 56-60, M
@SomewhatConfused that was rather tongue and cheek
Entwistle · 56-60, M
Stuff like that can be frustrating.
It an also be a good lesson in learning, practicing patience.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
I've only seen that movie once. I liked it when he got mad in the convenience store.
Slade · 56-60, M
I ❤️ that flick. Captures the anomie of the times perfectly

Yes but I like being free so my anger is dormant..
Iwillwait · M
Unfortunately, yes.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Absolutely, but I can't say I would handle things quite that way.
SomewhatConfused · 31-35, M
@uncalled4 of course not. But you have that flash of anger for a little bit. Then your over it
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@SomewhatConfused Not even that, sometimes. To dial it back is a challenge but often invaluable.
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
I have a very hard time watching that movie hahaha
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
All the damn time.

Part of the problem is that due to overexposure to adrenaline in the womb, I tend to view things as intentionally threatening and malicious, where a rational person would chalk it up to stupidity. So when some dumbass passes me on the right, and cuts me off with three or four feet to spare, my first instinct is to assume this person is trying to cause an accident.
