For most kids at that time , it was the Daleks and Dr Who .
A great device , was to cast an attractive young woman as his ‘ assistant ‘ . Stopped the dads from switching channels 😎

I can remember that first episode so vividly. It was a moment that changed many of us and I was delighted when it became possible to buy the earliest episodes some 30 or so years later. Gave up watching when it became too obviously of a culture to which I don't belong.
The other thing that happened that weekend also gets a mention now and then: JFK was shot.

First, and the one and only for me.
Like Bond - Sean Connery, the first and only one.

The early storylines were not great.....and it was not that popular ..
Until the Daleks came along.
They saved the series.

@TheSirfurryanimalWales The first episode with the introduction of the TARDIS was a stunner, but the 'educational' historic story of the discovery of fire making was boring...then the Daleks! I was bored by the Marco Polo story which came after that, but I did learn who he was. Education...on a Saturday tea time!?? Outrageous. 🤣

@Thomas52Fire- That's the one.Awful.
I watched that one with my nephew who was a kid when the show came back.It was shown on BBC4 I think.
He was a fan of the revival and wanted to see how it started but wasn't impressed!
Neither was I...and I had probably seen it when I was 6!

He was a very good actor, but by 1963 his health was failing and he often mucked up his lines. But he is still my favourite Doctor.

@WalterF I was never a big Bond fan, but dean Connery was brilliant in everything he did.

@Thomas52 My next favourite in the original series was John Pertwee. But a lot of that may have been because of Katy Manning as his companion.

And one of the best I think, though I gave up watching a long time ago.

@MasterDvdC I asked because I think the first Doctor you see is your favourite. Just an observation.
