Watching the Tom Cruise 'Mummy film'

And reading about the 'Dark Universe' that got cancelled. Finding it kind of funny... like everyone just collectively decided 'no thanks' 🤣

It's not even that bad, but it is weird seeing Cruise in it. It must be his least succesful / biggest failure? It is like a half decent low budget movie you'd on Netflix and not expect much of. Except it had a huge budget amd stars and was meant to be the first of this big series.

Marvel the only ones to have got it right. I'd prefer films to get sequels if they earn them and the audience want it, rather than cynically being planned out in advance and knowing you have to commit to films that only exist to set up other films.

Ironically, the Universal monster movies from the 30s and 40s made up the first movie shared universe.

Oh man this ending 🤦‍♀️

@helsbels not enough tits in my opinion. Jk

Totally agree, Ma'am. I loved the three Mummy films with Brandon Frazer but this one wasnt necessary.
Not suprising that after this start, the Dark Universe plans were cancelled.

Last I heard the invisible man was the restart of the Dark Universe. They was going to do one movie at a time and now rush them out.

This post didn't age well as the last few Marvel films... 😬

At least Tom Cruise has Top Gun Maverick and MI going for him.

I *say* it's not that bad, but it hasn't stopped me from looking at my phone for 80% of it... it's just a bit... average
wonkywinky · 51-55, M
It was very poor..like when about 80% of the studios budget has gone on attracting a Hollywood megastar.
WintaTheAngle · 41-45, M
The Russell Crowe part is a bit weird and clumsy
helsbels · 26-30, F
@WintaTheAngle I just got to that bit and was thinking the same! Just all seems like a bad fit, they are big stars and actors and they just don't suit the film.

I liked the female Mummy though. 😏

@SW-User I liked that actress as blade-legged killer in the Kingsman movie.
