Religious indoctrination is abuse. The shits gotta stop.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
@Insightful1981 Raising a child in your faith is not a bad thing. I mean, it's going to happen to some extent if you simply practice it yourself. There is a line though, you have to respect their free will.

Nope.. and you shouldn’t have been “forced” either

@SW-User My mother is insane.
SW-User
But...How were you forced to watch it as a child if that shit came out in mid 2000s? 🤔

@SW-User we need to be careful, w might make sense lol

@SW-User I answered your question.

@Roadtripolis I know! But my question was how did you watch it as a kid when you were not even a kid in 2004. Not that it matters, I'm just saying.
hunkalove · 61-69, M
That is such a crappy movie. I have never watched another Mel Gibson movie since.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@hunkalove I haven't watched one since he got pulled over for drunk driving and made his anti-Semitism known to all.
Oh cool fantasy movie for the kiddies!
Roadtripolis · 36-40, M
@Spunkylama They loved watching it for some reason.
Absolutely not.
Young minds don't have the emotional maturity to deal with the violence, cruelty and other forms of horror that occur in R-rated films. Even one exposure can lead to nightmares as happened to my younger sister when she was 13.

@hartfire IDK. I was wicked into horror even as a little kid and watched a lot of rated ones. I never had nightmares or scares from it. It was just curiosity in the taboo spooky and dark sides of life.
That said though graffic "torture porn" and "goreporn" like Saw and Hostile wasn't a thing yet so the bar has kinda been moved.

@MethDozer I used to watch horror movies right before bed with the lights out in the hopes that I would have nightmares. Sometimes I even did.
Of course, as you say, horror today is different.

For the record, I didn't think it was a bad movie. It didn't bother me. I don't know why people are so traumatized. 🤔It's a movie.😶
Spoiledbrat · F
I saw that but was not forced to. I think I was 18 though. No one forced religion on me.
familyfunguy · 56-60, M
There Will Be Blood might be clean enough for children to see.
TexasDude · 31-35, M
No. I can't think of any R rated movies that are good for kids.

My father took me to see MASH when I was 11.

Ugh. That movie is little more than snuff porn.
I was allowed to rent R-rated movies and watch them, as young as 13 years old, so this may come as a shock, but I don't think it was okay that it happened.

Even though I love it Falling Down is basically a grown man throwing a two hour temper-tantrum like an 8 year old denied a second piece of cake.
