No I didn't like it. Story wise it was a mess. Some of the themes were well done, but some of them were handled so badly it ruins the movie. And space does't behave like space in the movie. They open an air lock to hard vacuum and nothing happens. But it would have been OK without that pants crappingly stupid casino detour. The producers want to push their agenda, fine. It's their movie, they can. But it was so ham fisted and moronic. They could replace the whole casino story line with 30 seconds of a rich guy beating a puppy and it would have the same emotional and plot impact as that 20 minutes. I've seen political messaging in movies done well. I still don't like it but last jedi was genuinely insulting to my intelligence.

@smileylovesgaming but getting on the ship didn't do anything. They just got caught. And they could have gone anywhere to get Benicio Deltoro. It didn't have to be rich duech planet.

@Davidarendale0 well been a couple of month's since I seen it. I don't remember the fine details of it
IrishPatM
@Davidarendale0 if space acted like space there would be no sound affects in the space battles.

Very good except for the acting, plot, cinematography, cgi, or appeal.

@IstillmissEP yes all jjabrams films make me nauseous
MasterLee56-60, M
If the academy award was down to it and killer klowns from outer space, Jedi would barely miss.

In some ways it was very demanding... a lot was happening, albeit slowly in a way, but in other ways you have to remember it's the middle movie of a trilogy.
Deadcutie18-21, F
I think its down at the bottom of the list as far as star wars movies go. I'm beginning to agree with others, that it was a mistake cutting George Lucas out of it.. the plot holes are enormous, open plots from a force awakens were never explored, Luke skywarker being a pussy the first 2 hours then leaving the universe in some zen moment after wowing everyone with the most powerful display of the force ever seen... kylo is still a wimpy childish brat but we at least understand why he's angry..
Snoke was a fluke and never explained.. there still is no explanation how the order became such a threat in the first place and to the point of conquering the galaxy and eliminate all but a handful of the new republic.. seriously? The galaxy didn't learn thier lesson from the first emperor?
It was just blah.. the direction was bad, directing bad, scripts bad.. just bad all around..
smileylovesgaming31-35, F
@Deadcutie the Empire never really lost. Sure they lost the death star. But they still had all those ships at the end of the 6th movie. Sure anyone could just step in. And that was the first order. The resistance was to small to take over. And they lost big in the 8th movie
Deadcutie18-21, F
@smileylovesgaming it never was really explained what happened. In the force awakens its inferred in the opening sequence that the order was a fairly small force of those dedicated to death Vader , and that realitive peace had been restored to much of the galaxy.. in fact the star killer planet was supposed to restore them as a power to be reckoned with..
smileylovesgaming31-35, F
@Deadcutie yea the Empire lost a lot of man power after the 6th. So the first order would have been small when they took over.

I thought Luke was made out to be a wimp in this one ... after all he鈥檚 been through to run and hide in obscurity seemed a bit too PC
DanielChristensen46-50, M
Agreed. Yes I enjoyed it. Liked seeing them fight the red guards. Always wish Luke had fought Palpatine's. Had some feelings nostalgia, action, bit too much Disney cutesy humor but the closing sequence of the boy was Disney magic
Peekaboo2026-30, F
@DanielChristensen Snoke looks like this guy I despised so much. I had no trouble hating Snoke.
DanielChristensen46-50, M
@Peekaboo20 Snoke was cast well. Fascist douche

It wasn't as bad as the haters made it out to be. I liked the film, but I liked The Force Awakens more. I guess I was disappointed with the way Luke Skywalker was handled.

@SW-User Luke and Leia were never very compelling figures. The series got stuck with them after the first movie. So I didn't mind seeing Luke go. Han solo was compelling.
smileylovesgaming31-35, F
@SW-User I thought they did him right. I loved how he acted. And how he didn't want to have any part of it
UndeadPrivateer31-35, M
I found it rather fun, personally. Flawed in many many ways, but still fun. Still better than the prequels, though that's practically setting the bar at the floor.
JoyfulSilence46-50, M
Not yet. I wanted to see it this weekend but they were no longer showing it. I guess I waited too long.
Peekaboo2026-30, F
@JoyfulSilence It's available for free on the internet now.
JoyfulSilence46-50, M
@Peekaboo20 How is it free? Isn't that illegal?
Thevy2941-45, M
馃し It wasn't written directed and produced by George Lucas.
MasterLee56-60, M
@Thevy29 if it was, I'd never see another lucasfilm again but we know Abrams had a hand in it's death spiral.
IrishPatM
I really liked it. Some very nice set pieces in it.
Peekaboo2026-30, F
@IrishPat I'm glad some liked it. Others seem too hard to please.
IrishPatM
@Peekaboo20 yeah I鈥檓 surprised it鈥檚 split so many but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I鈥檓 glad I鈥檓 one of the ones who loves it so can enjoy it

LordofFlatbush51-55, M
I was pretty underwhelmed by it honestly.
smileylovesgaming31-35, F
I loved it

I never saw it, because I'm not big on Star Wars.
