Different forms of physician prescribed anti depressant medications/along with talk therapy-work for different patients/persons. While I am certainly NOT making any generalized assumptions about YOUR experience/situation with genetically inherited/circumstance induced depression-I CAN share with you that having been on various anti depression prescription medications-legitimately prescribed by licensed physicians-since December, 1983 (at the time-I was an 18 year old Senior attending a Houston, Texas high school and on a 16 day "winter break"-I had been genetically depressed for six years and suicidal for two months-I finally got on a physician prescribed anti depression medication known as Tofranil. Simultaneously-I started-on a frequent basis-"talk" therapy via conversing with a licensed clinical psychologist. Both of these therapeutic forms started showing marked improvements/results within four weeks-hence I was-finally-able to experience feelings of happiness/joy, and went on to complete my senior year of high school (Monday, August 22'nd to Friday, July 20'th, 1984-while earning EXCELLENT academic grades. Also-I became much more socialized with some of my fellow high school students. Most IMPORTANTLY-meds and "talk" therapy saved my life.
Hang in there-and-if you are comfortable doing so-let me know how you progress. Take care.

@cuteblondegreyguy That’s a great response - thank you mate. I’m glad that you were able to find a solution, and totally get what you’re saying about different meds etc. I may have to try something different to what I’m already on just to see if it helps. My particular symptoms are euphoria and intense lows - this morning was a low spot, but it’s passing.
Once again, thank you for your response and advice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

While it sucks that you share the same sort of thing that I (and others) do, I am happy to see you have the ability to say "Oh hey, it's you." to depression.
It is a real big meanie head when it decides to come around. That continous tap on the shoulder, wanting you to do and think what it wants. It left after a fairly long visit a week ago for me, almost skewing my mind to the point of ruining a current relationship. Fortunately, I was able to ride it out, again.
Here's hoping it passes for you this round sooner than you think.

@minxy That’s a really nice reply - thank you for your thoughts. You’re right, it’s helpful to know when it’s hitting and to recognise the signs. People with depression can quite often make bad decisions during the low points, so I’m glad that you were able to ride the storm and not ruin a relationship because of it. All the best to you, and hoping you can carry on staying in control of it xxx

Believing the lies that depression tells the person, yeah. Thanks, I hope the same for you.

Depression is an inevitability in life
And there’s no miraculous cure. We each face our own demons and battles in life, but in the darkest of times light stands out the brightest ✨

Today is one of the troughs that we depressives get.
Do you mean Monday?
Oneofthestormboys · 56-60, M
@Matt85 No, I’m ok with Mondays. This is a culmination of things over the weekend resulting in very low mood today.
Thanks for asking though 👍🏻
