Has anyone had therapist that mainly listens to you/nods?

My last two or three did this, and my current one, while very kind .. does this as well. I am there to get feedback, tips and affirmations, anything that can aid this healing of severe PTSD. I am not sure why or if they believe EVERY patient only wants a sounding board or just a pair of ears? I have major trouble speaking up too, that is part of my severe anxiety. I feel so awkward asking for what I need, with anyone really :( But I guess you just need to find that 'right' therapist, that really CARES to go forth MORE with you and ask questions, or show they are wondering about connecting the dots in your past, to how you are NOW. Anyone else go through this ?

That isn’t very helpful, you aren’t paying her just to listen to you. You need her feedback so you can through the stuff you’re talking about.

@iamonfire696 Exactly. Once she said recently After I had an Aha moment about the trauma.."Oh that's great..I wasnt going to say anything and thought. Shes almost there!"
I thought ...*Its great we need to find clarity as our own beings but Im sitting here struggling in life a lot*😟. I guess they are just not going to share much..so while I really enjoy her calm demeanor..I need more.

@Coralmist Honestly she sounds pretty useless. You could talk to yourself at this point and it would be the same thing. You need someone who is going to recognize where you need help and give you solutions to make things better.

@iamonfire696 Yes I think a change might be positive. We did click and she offered a few affirmation in the first couple months..but mostly just listening now. I agree i do need help in finding solutions..ty🌺
