Did you really think things were going to be different?

Do you cry about all the times that life disappointed you?

I'm retired now - in the twilight of my life and still don't feel it ever really got sorted out
SW-User
@OldBrit Same here. Also, retired and perplexed.

@SW-User So like - was that it? What was the point?
SW-User
@OldBrit Yeah, I sometimes wonder where the brilliant career and soul mate, who was supposed to retire with me, went to. (they ran away together and left me behind) 馃槃

I had my share of disappointments and heartbreaks. Life is like that. It tests how far you鈥檇 make it.

I often ruminate over my past: the lost hopes, broken dreams frustrations, heartbreaks, traumas, mistakes, and the few special moments. I'm trying to make sense of it all; to put it all into some kind of order, theme, meaning, narrative, etc. Maybe even create some kind of connection between my past and present and future. This seems to be a fruitless endeavor though.

I sit here going over the past so much, that I'm not completely in the present. Some things I cannot get over, and so they perpetually circle around my mind, while my life circles around the drain, like old, dirty water.

Anyway, sorry for sounding so negative.

I get fighting mad, not sad. But once when I was young, yes, I did think life would be kinder and more beautiful. Ah, the foolishness of youth. 馃嵎

No. I cry about the times I disappointed life.
SW-User
I've cried yes.
But I also learn, I guess

Yes it has and still does.

I'm definitely a habitual whiner but that doesn't mean anyone actually listens.

Things can be different.
No, not much. I act to get better.
