I Fight Depression and Loneliness Everyday

I don’t have any friends, because I don’t really try to make any. I’m very isolated and it’s all my own doing. I try to numb myself to the loneliness, by drawing, cooking, watching movies, playing games and listening to music. I make all kinds of excuses to avoid anything social. The only time I leave the house is to go to work, walk my dogs or get food shopping.

I can relate, in fact I taken medication and counseling 4 my anxiety/depression. However, I've realized that being anti-social only makes the depression and loneliness worse. Maybe U should start small by socializing w/someone online. If u need a friend, I'd B happy 2 chat w/U! Just check my profile and msg me, k? I'm Adam by the way, nice 2 meetcha!😊

I know how you feel I myself struggle with autism and one of my symptoms is a very strong social Anxiety even on here I rarely approach people due to a deep rooted fear of rejection

I can relate to the rejection thing, it’s probably one of my biggest fears. @Diesel95

@Chaosforthefly Honestly whenever I've met people they have all come to me I've never been any good in a social setting I don't do crowds to well either

You sound like you have a full life though, I've got into that pattern in the past, if you have a lot to do it's easy to find an excuse to be a hermit.
It's only a problem if you think it's a problem though
Are you unhappy?
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@Chaosforthefly a few years ago I didn't have any close friends it was a conscious decision but I really didn't realise how unhappy I was I preferred to be at home with my animals.
I still prefer to be at home with my animals but I have good friends now that I can meet and it's good for mental health to have a good laugh with someone else.
You are completely right change doesn't happen unless we make changes ourselves and it doesn't matter what that change is, if you change something anything! It invites more change in.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@AliceTinker I didn't mean to say change quite so much 😆

Yeah, I just want to spend time with my fur babies - they love me unconditionally and I don’t have to worry about rejection from them. I know I need to give humans a chance as well though.

((hugs)) Do you have social anxiety? It is very difficult for me to make friends and be social, so I totally understand.
Chaosforthefly · 36-40, F
It’s a combination of that and depression. I’ve had a hard time making friends for as long as I can remember. @SW-User

This is pretty my much me too. I unintentionally isolate myself and I'm a little used to not going anywhere. When I do get out into social places I regret it.

I hate not being able to function in society right
Chaosforthefly · 36-40, F
I get incredibly irritated in social situations, or just crowded places. All I want to do is go home and cuddle my dogs. @Chickie
