If you're bipolar you notice a sudden switch between a happy energetic state and a low depressed (sometimes suicidal) state without any specific trigger.
There's Bipolar 1 and 2 and one is severe and one is moderate.
If you however notice that there is an apparent trigger causing these switches, it might be PTSD rather than bipolar.

@Queendragonfly no association. Just sadness and the feeling to run away and leave the life of materialism.

@Queendragonfly That's quite a common escape fantasy. I have had it millions of times too.

@SW-User I'm no doctor but I don't see this as bipolar symptoms. Not even the moderate type.

Bipolar is when you go from one emotional extreme to the other very quickly. The emotions are intense, like going from mania, like being on a high, then plummeting into deep depression. I have a relative who has it. It affects him so much that he has been completely signed off work by his doctor.
DSM - 5 has information on symptoms of bipolar and if you experience them you most likely have it and it means you need medications like a mood stabilizer or even lithium

@TryingtoLava i'll check it out. I dont believe im anywhere near requiring medication.

Seek medical assessment

SW-User
@Flenflyys not the answer i'm looking for. Im sure you knew that.

@SW-User I’m not picking up on your meaning, sorry. I thought it was a serious question.

SW-User
@Flenflyys it is a serious question. But there really isnt a need for a disclaimer.

I think you would know it if you had it. You'd swing from depression to mania, where in mania you'd typically sleep very little, had a lot of energy, feel bold and on the top of the world, like you could do anything, you'd be more likely to spend large sums of money and engage in risky behaviour without realizing it's unwise and dangerous, in extreme case you might have psychosis and hallucinations, like believing you're a God. Then you'd crash and start feeling depressive, no energy, feeling weak, thinking you're a nobody, your body might hurt, everything would be overwhelming, in extreme case you might show physical symptoms like rash or other health issues.

It's quite dangerous not to be diagnosed by a professional for something like this.

SW-User
@SW-User only if you really do have it. It seems im just overthinking.

This isn’t a disease to self diagnose. You should really get assessed.
Spoiledbrat · F
I think bipolar is going back and forth between mania and manic depression.
Spoiledbrat · F
@SW-User Mania is a person with tons of energy and manic depression is depression. But these are extremes

SW-User
@Spoiledbrat hm thats what i figured. I think i deal with that to some small degree.
Spoiledbrat · F
@SW-User You would know.

You might be part polar bear

SW-User
@royalblue1193 there's no bear in the equation 🤨
Iwillwait · M
@SW-User 🤔 but there is a bear in the equation, it's bearing the pressures of highs and lows.

SW-User
@Iwillwait the equation is in the bear my friends.

Generally it’s something a doctor in psychology or psychiatry has to diagnose.
DDonde · 31-35, M
If you get diagnosed with it.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
You need to be assessed for it. It doesn’t mean you have to take medication now but a medical professional has to diagnose you.
Are you a wee bit of a slut?
