I have a neighbour who is 27 he has autism..

He's never had a job or gone to college, his parents are always telling him all he can't do, they really aren't nice to him, I know because he's always talking to my husband and he tells him things he probably shouldn't, he's obviously disabled and lacking support.

He got himself in a mess, he says he went to the toilet in a public park, but somebody saw him and says he was performing a sex act on himself while watching 2 teenage school girls, the judge let him off and says I don't want to see you again in this court again (I feel he was lenient because of his obvious disability)

But now, If I google his name it comes up on a sex register, jeez.. What a mess

I see this guy all the time, his parents have now told him he shouldn't go out and he needs to wear his hood up to hide, he can't explain himself properly and it's hard to know what's the truth, it's so weird

Autism is not a threat to society is the lack of the knowledge of autism to make people stupid to the awareness of what goes on with someone who has autism I have a mild form of autism with social reaction explaining things over and over not being able to deal with certain paperwork and doing certain type of things in the house I get frustrated really easily would you call me a bad person for all those problems?

@AJ023 I never said that it was. My son has autism and he's not doing anything weird or illegal, just because someone has autism and does bad things doesn't mean it's the autism that made them do it.

My post was about what my neighbour did, the fact that he has autism is inconsequential

My friend's daughter was getting sexually harassed by a mentally disabled person and the school was being very reluctant to do anything about it. They need to treat everyone the same because it's not ok for anyone to violate someone.

@Greyjedi hi, what's the difference?
Greyjedi · M
@DeluxedEdition mentally disabled would be more correctly said as intellectually disabled and as it’s name suggests it means their intellect is well below average 70 or below. This effects all aspects of there life. Developmental disability or (DD) effects generally specific parts of life like in the general case of ASD social understanding, communication and stimulation difficulties are some challenging aspects that can me common. However they are intelligent in their our more specified ways and Autism 1 people are especially intelligent. At the same time people with say to Down syndrome is a developmental disability that can have an influence like an intellectual disability. Retrograde Autism can also seem to effect, intelligence. @DeluxedEdition do you understand now?

That is so sad

It sounds like the man should get a proper education and guidance from professionals. The way his parents deal with this is truly wrong and weird.
SW-User
@CrazyMusicLover they're really awful

Parents are really out of line in providing professional help to the young man n now with a stupid police record he's getting closer to be dangerous to the society for no fault of his
Lostpoet · M
That gives a bad name to people who wear hoodies. Autism spectrum disorder is on a scale I'd have to meet him to know if he was lying or not.
SW-User
@Lostpoet I really don't know, my husband believed him, he talks to him a lot
Mental illness is real. Sometimes you can't judge them if it's genuine autism or that person is a mentally disturbed maniac.
SW-User
@littlepuppywantanewlife he's really a harmless young man, who comes across as an innocent teenager
Greyjedi · M
That sounds like an extreme case and a very difficult life.
SW-User
@Greyjedi it turns out that it's more likely than not that he did it, there's a precedent of behaviour at a local swimming pool, he's lucky to not be in jail

And I've told my daughter who is 13, that he's exposed himself publicly....and basically to not engage with him..

She's finding this all weird
Greyjedi · M
@SW-User that could likely make things worse. Isolationism is generally not good for social species. Then again sounds like he has retrograde autism that is very different from Autism 1 (formerly Asperger’s). It sounds like the thing with the person’s parents have left a bad mark on them.

So sad. Someone should challenge that sex register.

The problem with this is that he is not getting the help he needs and he will continue to be a threat to society.

As long as your kids know to stay away from him
A lot of offenders so have a mental disorder and there in lies the issue. Being unable to express himself. How much does he know right from wrong and acceptable. Will this happen again.
SW-User
@V00doo I hope not
@SW-User Of course. Theres just little help available for them

just tell him about this website

His parents haven’t helped him at all it seems and that’s really awful. I think many sex offenders have some sort of mental health issue. If his parents are not supportive or willing to get him help there is a high chance he will just reoffend again.

Edited for spelling
