It's a depressant, which is the opposite of being anxious/doing a drug that is a stimulant

And yes, drinking to fix issues does do harm in the long run. I never knew this was an open question to some people

So when intoxicated, do they forget about all of their worries?

It temporarily reduces your inhibitions because you鈥檙e intoxicated but it actually makes anxiety much worse

I heard it relaxes the nervous system

In the short-term, alcohol is a relaxing disinhibitor. In the long term, it is an addictive depressant, which destroys your liver and can cause cancer.

@XenonRush 馃do not get me wrong on this it is an mere observation as i am far from expert in this field no i do not for one second think this will work or a good idea to pursue. yes it may relief your anxiety problem but it is only short relief with the effect of the alcohol like any drug or medicine it only lasts so long . if you take alcohol on a regular basis what harm is it doing too your body and vitual organs

Alcohol is an anti depressant. It calms in mild to moderate doses.

it's antidepressant, it has inhibiting components that slows down cognition which is why it "eases". Long term use will cause deterioration when cognition is not utilized properly which will also affect social functioning as well as occupational functioning and will also literally kill the liver

It does not help at all, it just gives you brief sense of calm and peace, but as the time goes by you start drinking more and more snd now you have two issues instead of one

Alcohol is a depressant, so I'm not sure it's truly treating these symptoms.
