What is the minimum amount of time a therapist should see a client before making recommendations?

really depends on how good he or she is at seizing up someone. I had therapists who were so useless after a few months they still didn't come even close to understanding me. other ones might talk to a person once and already start to see some basic issues that should be addressed. example: (first meeting with therapist). client"every morning I feel foggy and depressed and its hard to get going" therapist" do you eat a lot of sugar before going to bed" client "yes, every night I eat a whole box of cookies" therapist" stop eating sugar at night and you'll already start feeling better".

I can see not long enough with you. Depends on how you walk in there. If you are very emotional, a sedative would not hurt. If you look like death warmed over and you say you are having a hard time getting sleep maybe a sleep aid. But if you walk in there complaining about not getting any from your relationship, you slap yourself and then scream at your inner self in a different voice about being a nympho, than a straight jacket might be in order. /just saying

Depends on if I told them all my secrets the first meeting or not.

That's between the therapist and the client.
There is no specific time.
