Age gap in couple

Poll - Total Votes: 19
Age is only a number
Yes men can be genuinely interested in a woman 15 years older
Not sure
If they are interested it might just be for financial reasons
I am in this situation myself, and it's the best (elaborate please)
I was in a situation like that, and it was too challenging so we broke up

Can a man of 41 be romantically interested in a woman of 56? Or it is more common for a woman of 41 to be interested in a man of 56?

@uniqueness1 There's not that much difference between 41 and 56. There's no reason that a 56-year-old woman cannot be attractive and enticing and get the interest of a 41-year old man.
@DunningKruger Ok thank you for clarifying.
DunningKruger · 61-69, M
@uniqueness1 Sure, it is generally that older men are interested in younger women, and vice versa, because as a rule men and women are looking for different things. But in the end, the only things that matter are mutual attraction and compatibility.
Father2 · 61-69, M
@Father2 clarify in a full sentence please. Because my post has two views. Your answer is ambiguous.
Father2 · 61-69, M
@uniqueness1 I would say that both views are normal and I see nothing wrong with the age gap in either direction. But I did miss the "Or is it more common" in the second sentence, and yes- I believe more often in our society, the woman is younger and the man older, perhaps at a ratio of 80/20.
Lovelooking · 41-45, M
I'm 15 years younger than my fiancée, and we are perfectly happy.
@Lovelooking wonderful!
@Lovelooking was the concept of age ever was brought up? Did you know her age initially, or thought she was younger due to her appearance?
Lovelooking · 41-45, M
@uniqueness1 we knew each others age when we started chatting
Yes... Why wouldn't they?

I just turned 43 one month ago, my person will be exactly 56 in 10 days. 🤷🏾 We're pretty obsessed with each other.
@uniqueness1 My last two exes are literally 60 and 31 so i would say yes. i dated the guy who is 31 for about 5 years. same thing applies, we were very into each other and are friends to this day.
@DancingStarGoddess ok thank you.
@uniqueness1 You're very welcome
GoFish · 41-45, F
they can and they have
Ferric67 · M
Sure
Why not
Kiesel · 56-60, M
My last relationship, that lasted almost two years…. She was 15 years younger than me
@Kiesel I'm talking about the man being younger.
1490wayb · 56-60, M
i found many older women beautiful and intelligent. always hoped to find one available but never happened
At that age I think it can always work both ways.
helenoftroy2000 · 22-25, F
No, not physically possible. Neil deGrasse Tyson said it is not.
@helenoftroy2000 what do you mean not physically possible???
helenoftroy2000 · 22-25, F
@uniqueness1 it is against the law of physics

PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
There was a 21 year age gap between my husband and myself, we were very happily married for 18 years so the difference only showed in positive ways.

I was submissive to him and as he was leading me, I appreciated the wisdom his age bought him. I think in D/s relationships it's more common that the dominant partner is male.

The only thing I would say is that age can bring unforseen health issues. My husband died suddenly in 2024. If you are the younger partner, you will inevitably be left alone at some point so that is something you should be aware of. X
@PatientlyWaiting25 since I'm a woman, my focus is more on the woman being older than the man. A lot of older men prefer younger women, but I'm not sure about the opposite.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
For me, once you reach adulthood, especially middle age, the difference between 41 and 56 becomes less meaningful. You are both older adults.
@JimboSaturn hmm, good point. I haven't thought of that.
Northwest · M
Does it matter?
@Northwest to me, being the older woman attracted to a younger man, no, but I need a man's perspective if he's the much younger one.
Northwest · M
@uniqueness1
I need a man's perspective

You're not going to get "a man's" perspective. You're going to get an SW male's perspective and this is going to depend on the individual. Only one man's opinion matters, so you should ask him.
@Northwest he doesn't know my age yet, lol....
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
I don't see what not. It is probably less likely than the opposite by raw statistics, but it doesn't really stretch the imagination. In general, I think the biggest challenge is just in how much cultural change happened in that fifteen year gap more than the specific genders at play.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
Yeah some guys prefer younger some prefer older some prefer same age

It's just a matter of preference

Personally I favor the younger, but nothing against those who prefer the older
@th3r0n ok. It makes sense.
