I want to revisit my heart, where I left it. In the past.

Mine is an ocean away.

My heart is not at my home.

It could be in my soul too

My house.

My heart had always belonged to the countryside; to its stars and wide open spaces. And that's where it's lead me, to make my home.

There's a little known beach in Orange county. It's where I learned to dive in my early teens.

Don't know why I consider it home. Perhaps it was because my father once took me there before 5 years old. I only remember walking with him along the saltmine bed. That salt mine was removed in the 60s. Yet the Beach at the shore end has always been there.

It's many miles from where I grew up. And you don't take a toddler for long walks. I asked my father once about that. He simply said I couldn't have remembered that. Not denying that that the saltmine was there.

These days I feel as if I’ve lost everything. No heart, no sense of self, nothing. I guess I’m homeless.

In the few times I've been by the ocean I know for sure that's where my heart is

Scattered in pieces over the years. Hit by a dozen tornados and hurricanes.

Where my mom is.

I suppose I've never lived in a home, then. Either that or I don't have a (metaphorical) heart.
