Once…my late husband and I were arguing about something [b]really[/b] stupid and he was laughing at me, holding my wrists. Furious, I jerked a hand free and slapped him. As soon as I did it, I felt horrible. I also remember thinking, "he’s twice my freaking size ! If he hits me back, I’m [b]dead[/b] !"

He’d never, ever been violent with me, and he wasn’t then. He looked hurt, got his coat and walked out. I spent the day cooking things I knew he liked. He came back later, we [b]both[/b] apologized, talked and somehow, got closer. But I never hit him or anyone else in anger again.

No fight. I’ve been hit and sure she wanted me to retaliate but never did indulge her. Sure that she had ulterior motives.

Oh yeah. One of my exes would rough me up regularly, and one day I snapped and beat his ass with his own sneaker.

Not really, as I confine my physical encounters with women to consensual other types. But my late wife once did slam the front door in my face so hard that it split down the middle.
