Do you ever feel like your presence in others lives is diminished by a screen?

Like we can sit next to each other and never take our focus off our devices. We may need someone to talk to or cuddle, but they'd rather be absorbed in the tube.

Ew.

It's like being physically present but mentally elsewhere. It can be frustrating when you're craving real social interactions and connections.
🌻A virtual flower to brighten your day a little . Give you a real one if I could, my friend 😀

I felt that before when I was more social but now I'm going through weird times in my life where I feel too empty to even give anyone anything through my presence. Maybe it's rather me who escapes through the screen or avoidance because I forgot how to be social.

It's okay to feel this way, and it's okay to take a step back when you need to. You don't have to be social all the time, and you don't have to give anything to anyone if you don't want to. Take care of yourself first, and everything else will fall into place
Yes...I'm trying to not be here as much ... it can go from being cathartic to draining in a short time ...it's unhealthy and I see it ...

It was one of the many things I hated about my ex. He would ask if I wanted to watch something with him, then sit there looking at his phone. It got so bad at the end that he couldn't even hear me talking to him.

@MarbleMarvel Why can't men do anything in moderation???
@Kuronekko I hate him

@MarbleMarvel I hate him for you x

Whenever I log off of here I feel as though I’ve escaped somehow. I have to take it in short bursts. Life is for the living.
@Madmonk as much as I love having any question answered at my fingertips, and SW as a place to talk to people and GPS and so on, I wish it would all go down. I miss life before all this and I see what it's turning us into.

@MarbleMarvel 100% relate to this.
I wish it would all go down. I miss life before all this and I see what it's turning us into.
Ditto.

This is what happened when I took a break for four years. It was not intended, I just had my life at that time. I rarely use my phone, just for text and calls only.

I feel desperately sorry for the small children I see ignored by a carer who is engrossed on their phone and the poor things are either running around out of control, or sitting waiting for some loving attention. 😟

i shut off myself behind my screen because i can't handle people.

I refuse to become a slave to it

There is no life to be lived on an electronic device. The Internet is just some nerds' greedscheme. 99% of what is on it is a total waste of time. When the time comes i doubt your last thoughts in this world will have anything to do with the Internet.
Madmonk · M
@hunkalove yet here we are.
Lilymoon · F
It's not even close to being the same.
It's a distraction.
