What is your morning routine??

I'm on leave and home at my parents house this weekend and I've deviated soooo far from my normal routine. But, I suppose, on leave we are supposed to ... that is the whole point.

So my normal routine goes as follows:

0400 - 0415
Wake up somewhere in this time range. By 0415 I'm up, bed made, changed into PT attire and starting my day. The start to that day begins with stretching and taekwondo forms.

0500
Run (35-45 minutes). Showered and in my uniform by 0600

0600
In my car and on my way to my office; breakfast on the way. Often a Dunkin bagel or breakfast sandwich.

0700
At my desk reviewing the overnight and prepping for the morning staff meeting at 0730.

But this morning, home on my weekend off, I woke up at 0815!!!!!!! What is your morning like?
Scribbles · 36-40, F
Most mornings, I wake up at 3 a.m and then doze until 4:30 when my alarm goes off. If it's not freezing, snowy or rainy... I go get ready for a walk with the dog for an hour sometimes I head back drop off the dog and head out again for a longer walk. And carry a bunch of water along. Sometimes I take an apple and some tofu or a hardboiled egg or something along to sit and eat for a bit. Sunrises are pretty. If the weather is bad, then get the dog out to do his business and then it's arm day or so pilates or yoga for an hour and then play with the dog so he gets some energy out. Then shower and back to bed for a nap before getting ready for work later

That's my morning routine when I'm happy. When I'm depressed I take the dog out briefly and go back to bed and wake up just in time to rush my way to work.

One of my favorite things to do on my days off is to sleep until 5 a.m and then spend the next 5 hours walking or cycling around. And/or go to the beach!

@sarabee1995 You're always welcome to stop by and hang out with our dog until you live somewhere more dog friendly and get your own again.

@sarabee1995 We started out with one Chihuahua.. a male, supposedly the runt of the litter - wrong.. he is a champ, he was sick when we got him but we got him healthy and he is very smart, perfectly proportioned - great dog.. Why a Chihuahua? At the yacht club there was a rule in place at the time (since reminded) that dogs could not be walked on the property so he would fit in the box on the back of the bike and I could take him for his walks on the parklands off the property... Small dogs work well with boats also.. in not too much time I decided he was such an amazing dog I thought the world needed more just like him and so we found him a mate.. First litter of puppies was born on the boat - I delivered them - our Daughters learned a LOT from that one... First one was born breach - I pulled him out and had to resuscitate him.. successfully.. called him "Wrong Way"... last one we called Skipper who lives with my Mother.. hey he was born on the boat.. I cook for them too... no store bought food.. People think small dogs are cute.. I respect them and honestly they are real athletes - amazing runners, very quick, quite agile and they love chasing geese and are good at it... I try to keep them off lead as they will follow voice commands... loads of fun, great companions.. these are deer head Chihuahuas- tricolours.. our eldest male looks like a small Jack Russel - and he has a similar temperament.. very clever dogs.. and they work well on a sailboat.

@pdqsailor1 Love it! ... Someday.
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
Was woken up at 5:30, our older Chihuahua wanted to go out of the boat.. I let him out on his own, everyone else is asleep... he is back by 5:45 so back into the V berth.. 7:30 got dressed and took all four of them out for a walk.. its hot and humid out already and the AC is running, 8:00 back in the boat.. get out of my clothes and slip back into bed.. time with my Wife, make coffee, bring out mugs, cream, sugar, make breakfast - pancakes and strawberries sliced on them.. have breakfast, load the dishwasher (yes I built one in on a 33' sailboat)... weather forecast... rig the boat, head out sailing... winds out of the southwest 13-21 knots, quite comfortable in terms of humidity and temperature on the water.. the boat is having FUN... I am also having fun... multiple police boats, barges and cranes setting a huge water pipeline in place blocking off 2/3 of my lake approach.. head due south into the lake on a 40 degree reach to keep clear of it.. the pipeline is to run into deep lake water (300' deep) where the water temperature is 50 F all year long - that water is used to cut massive levels of energy costs for both heat and AC for buildings in the downtown core.. The first one they rigged up was 20 years ago and it has been a huge financial / environmental winner so this is to expand the program... I saw the last pipeline go in then - and this one now... Same idea as the water sourced heat pump on our boat only on a massive scale....good solid engineering..

@pdqsailor1 Sounds like an awesome day! 🙂

@sarabee1995 every day on the boat is an awesome day!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Yay! It's nice to have a lay in once in a while 🙂

5.25am: wake to the alarm. Make breakfast and packed lunch for my wife while she is in the shower so she can start her shift on time

6.00am: kiss wife goodbye, do yoga exercises

6.30am: shower and dress

6.45am: breakfast

7.00am: take cup of tea into home office and review overnight performance of financial markets. Sink into deep melancholy and day dream of alternative career as maths teacher/foster parent/dressing room attendant to the England women's cricket team 🏏
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 Officially since July 2015. Unofficially since October 1999 when one of the girls in our dorm decided that the ban on same sex marriage was a violation of human rights and conducted our first marriage ceremony 😊
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SunshineGirl OMG that's awesome! I have no idea who this random celebrant was, but I love her already!!!

Wake up between 0300-0330
Breakfast and lunch prep and getting dressed for work 0330-0400
Drive to work 0400-0440
0500 start work

vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
@sarabee1995 not yet at least
I wake up around 8:30 am. I take my medication that has to be taken on an empty stomach. Then I shower and get ready.
In 30 minutes I eat breakfast and do whatever exercises I feel like.
Around 11 am I smoke some weed and chill until I go into work in the afternoon,
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@666Maggotz Ah, a second shifter? Do you like working late?
I do actually. I’ve never been a morning person, I prefer staying up late 😊@sarabee1995
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@666Maggotz Yup. I'm the opposite. I'm almost always in bed by 10.
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
OMG...

I waited... and waited and waited... and NOTHING.. sheesh...

Has NO ONE ever heard of morning sex before? Exactly why do you THINK my Wife wakes me up every morning? No wonder everyone looks grumpy.. I think we have the reason.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@pdqsailor1 Well, not currently involved with a partner providing such opportunities ... so ... I run. 😐
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
@sarabee1995 This was NOT directed at anyone specifically it was a general observation... and yes everyone would be a whole lot less grumpy if they got it on a whole lot more than they are... The world would be a much more peaceful and happier place.

🤔 i get up, i drink coffee, i shower, i drink coffee, i drink coffee, i walk to work bunker, i drink coffee, i eat fruit (i am a health fiend), i talk with my team, we drink coffee, except the coke drinkers... when the fuck does morning routine morph into winding the day down?

All depends.....on the season and sometimes weather and in recent times Luna's attitude. She's about 65 in canine years. Ok so on a week day in say summer.

Up at 0530 runing by 0545 for about an hour followed by some exercises. If Luna is reluctant I run on my own, get back and take her for a walk for about 30 minutes and skip the exercises.

0715 Coffee, Shower, Dress, Breakfast Coffee and at my desk by 0800. (Five-Seven minute commute)

Actually I have no set hours....just that it is a very productive hour before the 0900 business day starts....
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 Your correction was incorrect. However I failed to mention the third cup as I hit my desk.

I feel guilty if I miss just one run.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@KiwiBird Lol, I suspected as much!! Three cups in one morning, though. Is that good for you?

I don't feel "guilty" for missing a run... But I do start to get increasingly jittery if I miss runs.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@sarabee1995 The morning hasn't finished....or the day. I suspect it is not that good but a dozen has a nice ring to it. ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I wake up during the summer whenever I feel like it unless it’s the rare occasion that I have to be somewhere early in the day. I get up to see what the birds are chirping about, get the feral cat some food & water, drink a cup of coffee, if there’s a newspaper I read it, if not I get on the internet a while. If there’s a load or two of laundry I’ll sort & wash it. Putter around in the kitchen to get something to eat, wash dishes or run the dishwasher if it’s full. Do a few chores and get back on the internet. Unless I need to go do some errands or shop for groceries. Feed the cat a couple more times before I start thinking about what to make for dinner.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@cherokeepatti Love it! Sounds like a peaceful life. 🙂
Mine is pretty boring compared to you
7h30am i wake but lay in bwd till 7h45 lol
7h45 i go shower, brush teeth
8h15 put my hair in a bun, the get dressed for work
8h30 im out the door driving to work, sometimes grab an sausaage mcmuffin at Mcdo with am orange juice
9am im at work, opwn my sushi bar and start rolling ... until the close at 8 or 9 depending on the days...
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SimplyMeChantou Very cool. I'm in the process of trying to eat healthier so I've taken August as a no pizza - pasta - bread month. It's not that I'm trying to be gluten free -- don't care about that ... but I eat WAY too much pizza and pasta and I know that.

Anyway, it has led me to having a TON more seafood in my diet this month and I'm loving it. Now, sushi hasn't really been my thing in the past. I definitely like my food cooked. But I'm thinking of giving it a try again. 🤷‍♀️
@sarabee1995 if you take shrimp sushi.. its cooked or pollock too
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@SimplyMeChantou Oh, interesting. I'll look for that. 🙂
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
Well, most days when I work from home I roll out of bed at 0715, turn my laptop on, and start working. 😅

When I do go in to the office, I'll wake up at 0630, take a shower, brush my hair, then get dressed before making breakfast (usually toast with hummus and hot sauce sprinkled on top), and then sit in traffic until I get in.

I'm much more active after work, which is when I'll do yoga or lift weights for exercise, then shower, make dinner, and relax/take care of chores.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@FaeLuna So you're more of an evening person. I'm (obviously) a morning person. I'm winding down my activity level when I get home from work.
MellyMel22 · F
That’s so early you get up 😱😱😱 My dad gets up that early too.. My school year hours start at getting up 5-5:30. Summer is much different.
MellyMel22 · F
@sarabee1995 Thank you.. I don’t think so, it’s just always been that way. I’m not complaining, ig could always be worse.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@MellyMel22 I'll put in some good words for you... 🙏
MellyMel22 · F
@sarabee1995 You’re very sweet!
pdqsailor1 · 61-69, M
Lets see... this morning woke early, got dressed, took the dogs out for their walk, got back to the boat, undressed, into our bunk, my Wife moved her covers down a bit, make love, got dressed, made coffee, breakfast, dishwasher loaded, fixed the motor boat's engine's helm control tilt trim switch.. it works.. no wind.... its hot out, AC is running down below.. great day wish there was some wind to go sailing with.. its still a PERFECT day...

Wake up at 08:55 if I work from home and have to be online by 09:00. Otherwise it's around 08:00 if I'll have to head out.

I can't relate to all the people saying 3-6 am. That's better suited as the time frame to call it a night.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@TheGreatLeveler Some of us are at our best in the morning; others in the evening. I'm a morning person. Always have been.

Although this morning felt absolutely decadent sleeping until after 0800.

I loved that stuff as a kid. Espeically the chocolate kind.
My mom would buy it because it was a cheap filling breakfast that I'd eat. Grandma would send me coupons for the chocolate kind.
