What is your morning routine??

I'm on leave and home at my parents house this weekend and I've deviated soooo far from my normal routine. But, I suppose, on leave we are supposed to ... that is the whole point.

So my normal routine goes as follows:

0400 - 0415
Wake up somewhere in this time range. By 0415 I'm up, bed made, changed into PT attire and starting my day. The start to that day begins with stretching and taekwondo forms.

0500
Run (35-45 minutes). Showered and in my uniform by 0600

0600
In my car and on my way to my office; breakfast on the way. Often a Dunkin bagel or breakfast sandwich.

0700
At my desk reviewing the overnight and prepping for the morning staff meeting at 0730.

But this morning, home on my weekend off, I woke up at 0815!!!!!!! What is your morning like?

Most mornings, I wake up at 3 a.m and then doze until 4:30 when my alarm goes off. If it's not freezing, snowy or rainy... I go get ready for a walk with the dog for an hour sometimes I head back drop off the dog and head out again for a longer walk. And carry a bunch of water along. Sometimes I take an apple and some tofu or a hardboiled egg or something along to sit and eat for a bit. Sunrises are pretty. If the weather is bad, then get the dog out to do his business and then it's arm day or so pilates or yoga for an hour and then play with the dog so he gets some energy out. Then shower and back to bed for a nap before getting ready for work later

That's my morning routine when I'm happy. When I'm depressed I take the dog out briefly and go back to bed and wake up just in time to rush my way to work.

One of my favorite things to do on my days off is to sleep until 5 a.m and then spend the next 5 hours walking or cycling around. And/or go to the beach!

@Scribbles That's awesome. I've always known you to be a morning person. Sorry to hear you still have some not so good days. I hope they are less frequent.

How long have you had the dog?

@sarabee1995 Everybody has off days. I don't have depression as much anymore but I won't pretend I don't have moments once in a while and just need the extra sleep to face the world or need to wrap myself up in a soft blanket or quilt for a little longer or have a doggy cuddle on the couch for a little while some days.

Since January of 2019. I wasn't sure about getting a dog at first. But I love him! :)

@Scribbles I very much miss having a dog in my life. It's been way too long. But my current life and living situation is not dog friendly. 🤷‍♀️

@sarabee1995 You're always welcome to stop by and hang out with our dog until you live somewhere more dog friendly and get your own again.

@sarabee1995 We started out with one Chihuahua.. a male, supposedly the runt of the litter - wrong.. he is a champ, he was sick when we got him but we got him healthy and he is very smart, perfectly proportioned - great dog.. Why a Chihuahua? At the yacht club there was a rule in place at the time (since reminded) that dogs could not be walked on the property so he would fit in the box on the back of the bike and I could take him for his walks on the parklands off the property... Small dogs work well with boats also.. in not too much time I decided he was such an amazing dog I thought the world needed more just like him and so we found him a mate.. First litter of puppies was born on the boat - I delivered them - our Daughters learned a LOT from that one... First one was born breach - I pulled him out and had to resuscitate him.. successfully.. called him "Wrong Way"... last one we called Skipper who lives with my Mother.. hey he was born on the boat.. I cook for them too... no store bought food.. People think small dogs are cute.. I respect them and honestly they are real athletes - amazing runners, very quick, quite agile and they love chasing geese and are good at it... I try to keep them off lead as they will follow voice commands... loads of fun, great companions.. these are deer head Chihuahuas- tricolours.. our eldest male looks like a small Jack Russel - and he has a similar temperament.. very clever dogs.. and they work well on a sailboat.
