Does our profile pic reveal things about us. Our thoughts or wishes or hidden strengths or something more. I will start with mine. I am so interested in what you have to say that inspired what you put as your profile pic.
Hello my username is 2speck
I was inspired by a feeling, the attitude, the cool sense of self ,feeling free and ready for the next adventure. It is how I feel in the moment that might change. Now tell me about you and your profile pic.
I have always had an inner feeling that there is someone else hiding inside of me. So I did choose my name and my profile to fit that person. She is a person who loves life and loves to talk with anyone interested in sharing thoughts, comments or just everyday things.
I owned an anthology book of modern poets and each poet had a black and white picture of their face. I especially liked the Li young Lee picture and tried to recreate it myself. Plus it fit in with my name Lostpoet because it looks like a picture from the missing people on the milk cartons.
When covid hit my area was locked down for over a year. Most places weren't doing business or at least not how they normally did business. I decided that i would start cutting my own hair and i also decided to grow out a covid beard. I figured i could fully embrace the time frame and really look like a post war apocalypse survivor. I bought an electric comb for ky beard, and cut my own hair and this was the result of that. So that is the story behind this current picture. I often switch to avatars of my doggos because for some reason my face brings pervy DM's.
I'm a bird watcher and hummingbirds became an obsessive hobby of mine after a car accident. So thats why I chose those beautiful jewel like creatures for my avatar and username.🐦
The progression of my pfp , getting away from actual photos on EP because they resulted in them being "tributed" back to me. The animated pic says a lot about me. I am a woman, I am from Texas (the Texas Flag is depicted ). I am patriotic (Red, White, and Blue). I am a country girl. And I have long hair. It also does not inspire men to tribute it 🤦♀️.
I'm afraid mine is a lot less philosophical than yours!
I had to use something, so simply concatenated the two words - Arish Mell - forming the name of a small and rather remote bay on the South English coast. The profile photo of it, was one I found on-line; Google Earth I think.
No special reason for my choice, and I'm afraid I do not know the name's etymology.
Arish might have been a local land-owner's family name centuries ago. Possibly.
"Mell" or "mel" occurs in one or two places elsewhere and might be an old spelling of 'mill'.
For example, the main part of the estuarine town of 'Weymouth', about 15 miles along the same coast from Arish Mell, is properly Melcombe Regis. Weymouth is across the river from it. "Coombe", "combe" or in Wales, "Cwm", means valley. So the town name might mean "Mill Valley", as the River Wey once had three or four mills along its 4-mile valley.
Yet Arish Mell is at the end of a wide, dry valley so it's hard to equate 'Mell' with 'mill' there.
British geographical names go back centuries, even back to Roman times, so the "Arish Mell" name is probably hundreds of years old; Old English words, probably local dialect, and never meant "Arish's Mill" at all!
I just change mine at more or less random intervals. Sometimes I want to show some jewellery, sometimes a dress, anything really, it's usually just a spur of the moment decision with no great deliberation behind it.
