I'm afraid mine is a lot less philosophical than yours!
I had to use something, so simply concatenated the two words - Arish Mell - forming the name of a small and rather remote bay on the South English coast. The profile photo of it, was one I found on-line; Google Earth I think.
No special reason for my choice, and I'm afraid I do not know the name's etymology.
Arish might have been a local land-owner's family name centuries ago. Possibly.
"Mell" or "mel" occurs in one or two places elsewhere and might be an old spelling of 'mill'.
For example, the main part of the estuarine town of 'Weymouth', about 15 miles along the same coast from Arish Mell, is properly Melcombe Regis. Weymouth is across the river from it. "Coombe", "combe" or in Wales, "Cwm", means valley. So the town name might mean "Mill Valley", as the River Wey once had three or four mills along its 4-mile valley.
Yet Arish Mell is at the end of a wide, dry valley so it's hard to equate 'Mell' with 'mill' there.
British geographical names go back centuries, even back to Roman times, so the "Arish Mell" name is probably hundreds of years old; Old English words, probably local dialect, and never meant "Arish's Mill" at all!
