Can everyone please share some of their worst failures?

I just failed an exam. That I feel quite bummed about. Apart from being average at best at my work...
Anyway...
Please share your worst failures. I want to feel less alone.

Sorry if this offends anyone. I'm just tired of people pretending that life is so perfect when it isn't. It can be perfect in certain aspects, but not all.

That being said, if you do have a perfect perfect life, please scroll past, I don't want horrible critical comments. I just want to feel less alone. That's all.

Thank you for understanding.

I once got into the wrong car on my way out of the mall and my brother & his girlfriend saw it.

Well, assuming this was at work - keep in mind that no matter how good we do at our job, it is never enough anyways. Even if you had passed, they would then expect 100% more effort for like a 3% pay raise, so you are better off not passing.

If it was a college test - the class and the books often do not seem to coincide with what is on the test. So that is not your fault.

Also, most people do not talk about their failures in life, we hear only the good news. So trust me, you are not the first.

But for my failure in life - same boat as @contrails except just a little younger.

One thing that is we*rd in life - when we have dreams or trying to do something, everyone says we cannot do it because we are not smart enough, don't have the right schooling, don't know the right people, or whatever.
But THEN when we finally give up, people suddenly try to encourage us to do good.

@HoochieTheClown I will not give up.

Thank you for this perspective. I truly am not ready for the responsibility after the exam. So maybe it's just good timing

I remember I came 29/30 in a PE class

It was awful. The school uniform was this short short skirt and regulation school undies I always forgot.

To clarify I would forget to wear the school regulation undies, not underwear altogether.

Although once I did wear my shoes on the wrong feet, left on right and vice versa, all the way to school. That was a 2k walk. A train. And a bus. I'm ADD so don't have great body awareness.

Anyway, so I'm all upset and telling my friend about how much I suxed at physical things, and how uncoordinated I am and how I came 29th out of 30.

"I came 30th," she said, making me bad at social interactions AND sport.

I once almost hopped into the back of a police car thinking it was a taxi. I was inebriated at the time.

What about reaching 60 years of age with no savings and no retirement plan? You at least have plenty of time to correct course and get things right. My whole life has been a complete and unmitigated failure, I wish that "failing an exam" was all I had to feel bad about.
turningthekeys · 31-35, F
@contrails I will try to do better at my job so I can save....I don't know.
AmericanAvenger · 56-60, M
@contrails I can understand, brother. I cant say that I feel that much better at the same age. My life has been a series of bad decisions, bad luck, and losses. If you have a job, at least you have some income. I was load off 2 years ago and no one will hire me. Too young for social security and too old to go back to school or learn a trade. I am trying to figure out a way to make some money on my own. I do have a little savings and some 401K but I think can relate to your feelings.

I fail at 98% of everything I attempt. But I haven’t given up yet so that’s something.
turningthekeys · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 but you're awesome though
AmericanAvenger · 56-60, M
@Thevy29 Me too - and I have been doing it 20 years longer than you. Keep grinding

Adding oil to the engine during an oil change and not putting the drain plug in. $$$ synthetic oil all over the pavement.
It only took once for that lesson.
turningthekeys · 31-35, F
@Gibbon I understand. I have made my fair share of mistakes.
This isn't exactly a failure but when I went to Bali a monkey jumped down and tried to eat my hair. I'm guessing because it's so wiry it looked like straw 🤣😂🤣

Enjoy...

My friend was on a job worth $60,000 and was laid off. He got a council job and the first week he backed the council car and trailer into another car and got fired. Led to him getting a job where he was earning over $100,000

So it's funny how life works

When I was in college I sent in my notes instead of my finished essay and got a letter from the college warning me about plagiarism.

I failed to impress anyone on SW with my expertise on a most important question that has plagued mankind since the stone age.
