He's going to kill me...and I don't care.

A friend of mine is SNOWED in to his mobile home. He can't open the front door because of the weight of the snow blocking it.

I talked to him last night, and asked him what about food? How are you going to get food?

And he said, "I don't know...waiti till spring, I guess."

And then he told me he felt really sick, and he felt dizzy when he got up.

So today, I called the fire department in the town where he lives, and told them I was worried about him, that he is frail and elderly and his door was snowed shut and he couldn't get out if he needed to go to the hospital..

SO....I got a phone call from my friend a little while ago, blasting me out of the water.

If it had been a bit of Harry Potter mail, it would have been a "Howler".

He SAYS that the fire department guys nearly ripped his screen door off it's hinges!!! He IS awfully sensitive about that door, because its so flimsy, and he doesn't want to replace it.

AND I was told NOT TO INTERFERE!

THAT'S the polite version...without all the swear words.

BUT....MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!🤭🤭🤭

There once was a grumpy old coot,
Whose temper was always acute.
He yelled and he screamed
'Cuz he really was steamed,
And he cussed out poor 4me to boot.
*

* But she did the right thing.

@Thinkerbell THANK you!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Thank YOU for bc. ❤

@Thinkerbell Well deserved! Your limerick was VERY apt!

Could be his pride was bruised by having someone check on him. A lot of people hate getting older, and resist the very idea that they could use some help.
But you absolutely did the right thing, especially after he admitted feeling sick and dizzy.
I hope when he cools off, he appreciates having a friend who cares about him. There are so many sad souls, young and old, who have no one.

Good for you! Sometimes kindness we provide need not be reciprocal...just given with good intentions. 👍🏻

@Punxi THANK you!

My dad was similar in some ways.
Every contractor that did something to his house learned to block his number as soon as the job was finished.
4meAndyou · F
@Adrift Yup. You hit the nail on the head...🤣🤣🤣 He's too weak to put his new battery in his truck, but he refuses to allow his friend and neighbor to do it for him, "Because he will bang everything all up and ruin my truck!" 🤣🤣🤣
what if you did not call, he died. so, you did the right thing. but if he had a phone, he could have made the call himself if he was truly in trouble you're still a Jem.

@jackrabbit10 Awww. Shucks. Thank you!!! You're right...the ambulance people COULD have gotten the door open. BUT he was sitting there unable to get his mail and unable to get out to buy food or even open his door to get a delivery...and he would NEVER have called the fire department. Too ornery and stubborn!

No good deed goes unpunished.

You did the right thing, regardless of whether or not he appreciated it.
4meAndyou · F
@SumKindaMunster I'm-a-startin' to feel pretty darned GOOD about myself!!! 🤣🤣🤣
joe438 · 61-69, M
You did the right thing even if he was upset. If god forbid something had happened…
4meAndyou · F
@joe438 That's what I kept saying to myself. What if he wanted to go to the hospital? He can't even get to the mailbox and that's how he gets all his meds. He can't get out to walk to my car so that I can drive him to pick up groceries.
joe438 · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou I hope common sense takes over his brain and he not only forgives you, but thanks you as well.
4meAndyou · F
@joe438 Awww. THAT would be nice. Not holding my breath, though.

Swearing means he is still alive. Tell him we at SW love him too
4meAndyou · F
@DarthInvader Naw, I don't need another "Howler" today, thank you very much. He would freak if he knew I talk about him here...🤣🤣🤣
gregloa · 61-69, M
Sometimes you just gotta take care of it, even if they don’t want you to. He'll thank you later.
4meAndyou · F
@gregloa Probably not...THAT would be a miracle...but at least I feel better.
