I can make a decision to do that and God helps give me strength in that, as well. If we will but slow down for once and think what's really going on, we'll have no need to stress out over things. Have we not learned by now, that worrying about things never helps one bit? It has never changed one thing. Whereas prayer and trusting God works every time and takes our anxiety away. We do the best we can and what we don't or can't do, God takes up the slack.

Take self time , to recharge; zone out, walk, draw, paint, read... keeping my hands occupied seems to help me order my thoughts. Go outdoors, if possible. Fresh air aerates my mind as well.. music. Comfortable, relaxing music. If I don't have time, just keep taking big breaths and attempt to slow them down helps me. Looking at something blue, purple or green relaxes me too. I hope one or more of these can be of help to you :)

The trick to stop stressing is distract your mind with other projects or hobbies.
Maybe as simple as a nice walk, or exercising, or project you're interested of any kind.
Psychologically wise, anything that gets your eyes moving horizontally while your head stays straight, which includes stay driving with no rush to be anywhere, or again, walking or jogging.
Also, venting, preferably vocally venting your stress out.

I notice my short breaths and slow them down. I let go of everything I think I must be doing that is just a high pressure on myself and not actually necessary to do right now and lay in the bed or the sofa and do something relaxing.

takes a Lot of practice
start with something small
say to yourself "not my circus, not my monkey"
and let it go
one step at a time, to let go of bigger and bigger things
even if you take 0.1% bigger baby steps
