The secret is in do you feel that way when your are at your happiest. Think about the happiest you've ever been in your life. Did you feel then that you wanted to die? If so you should consider seeking mental help. Otherwise, its just called self pity. We tend to feel that way when we are overwhelmed or when things aren't going according to plan. We all experience this until the worse passes.
