I can empathize with you, but I don't understand that "fear of the unknown" part, you mentioned. Not when Jesus didn't leave us to guess about how to have heaven as our eternal home.
I don't look forward to the pain part of dying but I'm not afraid of the afterlife at all. I prepared and I know where I'm going. The Lord doesn't want us to be afraid. He prepared a special place in heaven for us if we will allow him to help us get there. That's the key. If we will allow him to save our soul. No one has to miss heaven.

I think I'm less afraid of death than I am the suffering that is likely to be involved in reaching that state. I am not eager for death by any means and would choose to live a very long life indeed if given the choice. But my actually being dead just feels like a thing that is not really my problem at that point. It really is the lead up I dread.
@ViciDraco
It really is your problem. If you don't plan for where you're going to spend eternity, you won't like the outcome. Just as we prepare for everything else in life, we must prepare our souls for heaven. The Bible says so. The most precious thing we own is our soul. That's one thing we do not want to neglect and we can't afford to neglect. Jesus has a plan of salvation, that if we will allow him to save our soul, we can be sure of heaven for a eternity. God did not leave us to guess what happens to us after we leave this world, but you still have to prepare for it. We can't walk into heaven with sin on our heels. Therefore we must ask God to forgive us of our sins and invite him into our heart and life to be our Savior. With our sins forgiven, we are prepared for heaven.

@cyberdude28 Peace from suffering.

You might as well not be. It's pretty inevitable, and being scared only wastes your energy.

death is not the end, but the beginning of a journey to new destinies to heavenly realms....like walking out of a room, turning off the light and going to another room.

What makes you scared of death?
cyberdude28 · 31-35, M
@ihavenoone Fear of the unknown, the pain it causes loved ones, feeling pain.
