I just lost my mom last month.
I'm in the thick of it now.
It's a journey. Some days are really hard, some days are better.
I just let it flow over me and hang on for the ride.
I accept it as it is.
I don't hide from it, because it will find me eventually.
She wasn't a great mom, but she was the only one I'll ever have.
She knew me better than anyone, used to drive me crazy.
This loss is different than any other.
I go to call her every day, and then I remember and it hurts just like the day it happened.
I'm trying to adjust to my new normal.
I miss her every single day.
Some day it will get better.
Until then, I just do what I can to get through the day.

Honestly, i have to thank my dad for making me the strong person that i am. He prepared me for death since i can remember. He was 50 when i was born and used to always say i might not be alive to see you grow up. He died in his 90s and saw me get married and have children. So i always expected and accepted death and it made me stronger as a person.

@AngelUnforgiven a bit grim but in the end it went well! Lovely

I remember the times I had with those who are no longer here. And I cherish those memories.

It varies. Depends of who it is and under what circumstances. It usually brings us pain, sadness and depression. Sometimes it can be a relief if someone is suffering.
popmol · 26-30, M
@BizSuitStacy I was both sad and happy when my grandfather died
BizSuitStacy · M
@popmol I felt the same when my mother passed.
popmol · 26-30, M
@BizSuitStacy i'm sorry to hear!

Luckily, I didn't really have to deal with it in any other way than emotional one. I dread the responsibility of dealing with it in those other ways.
popmol · 26-30, M
@CrazyMusicLover it does seem like a pain!
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@popmol In every single office or institute you deal with, you have to be reminded of the death of someone close to you again and again. Endless legal issues.
popmol · 26-30, M
@CrazyMusicLover well its really a pain then! wow!
I befriend it

Death is simply a fact of life.
I recall some words that Epictetus once spoke:
"For I am not eternal, but a man. A part of the whole, as an hour is part of a day. I must come on as the hour and, like the hour, pass away."

Its different every time. Grief is very hard on the psyche its worse if you have no support or comfort from anyone.

Having experienced the deaths of my parents and my brother in law and several cousins and the death of my son I have come to look at it as a graduation. We are in school here on earth for as many years as allotted to us and then we graduate to a better state of being.
popmol · 26-30, M
@hippyjoe1955 I see
Philosophically

I mean my own doesn't bother me as much as losing people.
