My new kitten died today

A couple of weeks ago I bought this gorgeous kitten from a shelter. I had picked him out and went back for him a few days later, and the girl told me that he had started sneezing the night before but the vet checked him out and said it was just a cold. They gave me some antibiotics to give him twice a day, so I did. One week later he wasn't any better and the shelter called me to check on him and when I said that the antibiotics weren't helping, they said to bring him back for a shot and stronger antibiotics. They gave him Doxycycline and said for me to give it to him twice a day for 7 days. After a few days, he stopped sneezing and his runny nose cleared up.
Tonight I came home from work and he was dead.
I have no clue why, unless maybe the antibiotics were too strong for him or he had something a lot worse than a cold that they said it was.
I'm heartbroken because he was the most sweetest kitten I've ever had. I can't stop crying.

My heart breaks reading this. What a horrible thing to come home to, I'm so sorry. It was so sweet of you to give the kitty a new chance.

It's so tragic, but shelter animals always comes with a risk of hidden diseases. You did all you could, the blame is not yours, you hear me? It's not your fault.

I'm so sorry I can't imagine the pain and sorrow you feel 💔

The kitty was loved and came to his forever home , you gave him all he ever wanted, know that ❤️

@Mardrae Good people always blame themselves. Especially when something happen the people or animals in their lives. It's a common normal response because the pain is too great to process. But you will be able to get through this ❤️ give it time.

OMG Thats horrible. I'm so sorry.
It could have been Cat leukemia or feline immunodeficiency virus or maybe even pavo. Whatever the case' throw out everything like blankets and bedding and clean EVERYTHING with bleach. Please do not get another kitty for couple of weeks
Mardrae · F
@TrashCat I called them this morning and left a message saying I wanted my money back. They haven't called me back yet. And probably won't

@Mardrae Call the board of healh on them or threaten to do so. Channel your inner Karen ans rage. I would be pissed off
Mardrae · F

poor thing. Most likely another shot victim. So cute
Mardrae · F
@SW-User I didn't think about that, but I did wonder if the antibiotics were too harsh for him.

I'm so sorry. For the little being you did your best to save, and for the sorrow and almost inevitable guilt you're probably feeling...even though you're not to blame.

Mine was sick too but it was due to malnutrition. Now she is a mother.

This is life. No one stays forever. One comes and the other goes.
