What is the One Thing you need to change in your life?

Mine is to stop worrying over things I can't control. I like to think of every angle and have any catastrophe thought out.
LadyGrace · 70-79
I admire your courage to discuss it. Some would not be so brave as to admit it, but we all do it, and it is part of our nature, though we don't want it there.

Isn't it something, how we can take one small piece of information, whether it comes from the media, Satan's suggestions, or something that just pops up in our minds from curiosity, and we ride and analyze it till the cows come home. Hahaha

As you said, thinking of every angle. We can drive ourselves crazy with overthinking. But you're right. We need to be aware of Satan's tactics and be watchful that we don't allow fear to overtake us. I'm working on the same thing you are, each and every day, because I know how Satan can snatch our thoughts, but God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind, the Bible says. This is why we must be on guard as Christians, so I'm so happy that you reminded us and have made us aware to keep vigil against the wiles of the devil.

The more we read God's Word and pray to him, the stronger we shall be. Fear itself is not necessarily a sin, but it can become one. This is why we must stay alert and watch for these things.

Fear only becomes sinful, when we surrender to it and allow it to control us or overwhelm us. This is why we must pray about it everyday. In this crazy world, it is easy to be overcome with concern and fear. On the flip side of that coin, fear is a natural emotion that can protect us, such as when it tells us to be cautious in dangerous situations. So that can be a blessing. We just never want it to get out of hand. People can become obsessed with fear.

The antidote? I praise God that he redirects our attention to faith in Him. God wants us to turn away from fear and focus on Him. And that is why I love the verse that says,

Isaiah 26:3: "You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast and stayed on you, because they trust in you."

It essentially means that only when someone fully focuses their mind on God, will they experience true and lasting peace, because of their trust in him. When we keep our eyes on the Lord and read His Word and pray, we cannot help but find peace, as our focus is strictly on him. One cannot be of a double mind and at peace, at the same time.

Satan is the author of confusion. And the Bible says a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. That's certainly something we don't want to be. God and His word never causes confusion when we lean on him, but a stable and loving peace comes to our hearts. He will never forsake us nor abandon us. He is our total peace in times of trouble. The Rock on which we stand. When all these terrible thoughts or fears come to my mind, that is who I turn to and He never lets me down. There is no fear in perfect love and God's love is perfect for us in every way. On that, we can depend. He is our only safe place in this world of confusion and turmoil. Our respite and Rescuer in times of trouble. I thank God for that.

@akindheart I'm so sorry to hear this, sweet friend. You have brought this to him in prayer, so you can believe he's working on it. I will keep you in my prayers on this. I know these things can be very worrisome, especially when it's family. I have been in the same situation at times, but I had to remind myself that if I pray and keep worrying, that doesn't show God that I trust him, so I then give it completely over to him. I just have to let him have it and stop worrying.

I think about the past, how that when I have really trusted him to take care of it, he has never let me down. He won't let you down, either. As you have said, he may not answer prayer in the way we thought he would, but he always does it better and answers in our best interest. He always has our best interest at heart.

He heard your prayers and He will continue to hear your prayers and work on your behalf. He can see into the future, so he knows best how to handle our problems right now, that will benefit us in the best way possible. We can trust him. He is trustworthy, and sometimes He answers prayers differently because He may be working on other family members at the same time, before there can be an even better outcome down the line for you, but rest assured he is working on your family.

Your prayers never go on deaf ears and you know God can work miracles. Your prayers will never go unanswered. God loves you so much, so you know he's going to do his utmost, to help you in this situation. Just keep the faith no matter what you see because we walk by faith and not sight. You will see things change. And don't forget that though we want to see things happen quickly, we must remember that when God's working on other people in the family as well, they can harden their heart and not allow the change that God wants to make, so God has to continue working on them and so his timing is different than ours. He will not go against people's will, but if we pray about family members, and that God will help them and for their salvation for example, then God has the exact right timing and everything will fall exactly into the right place, at the right time. So we must be patient while God works on the family. The Holy Spirit will continue to work on these people. You may rest assured of that.

What do we think about? We think about those things we focus on, and Jesus said to keep our eyes on him and not be afraid and he will help us. If we keep our eyes on Jesus instead of the troubles of this world, that will lighten our load 100%. And Jesus wants to carry the load for us. We have a God that keeps his promises, so in that, we can rest in him. He is greater than any problem we have.

These challenges we have in life are not to hurt us, but to help make us stronger and wiser, as we exercise our faith and lean on him. Life will always have its challenges, but we can face those days with hope, because we know who's in control of each day. We can choose to trust him and we can also choose the way we will think about things each day. We can control our attitude and decide what we will think about. I love thinking on the promises of God and how much he loves us. He doesn't let his children down. He's very protective of them.

Pain doesn’t just show up in our lives for no reason. It alerts us that something needs to change, and prayer brings about that change we need. The positive thing about pain, is that it will change you or change your life. It molds us, too, in good ways. Pain brings us actually closer to God as we lean and depend on him more often and come to him asking for help. It makes us emotionally and mentally stronger. It motivates people to do things they didn’t know they could do. It builds our faith, as we trust in Him.

Sometimes we have to fight through some dark days, to see the best days of our life. It’s not easy, but it is possible, as we keep trusting in God. Keep going. Great days are ahead of you. The dark days we go through, give meaning to the good days ahead of us. We can give thanks to the Lord for his help. We come up even better, with renewed faith and strength in Him.

The pain you feel today will be the strength you feel tomorrow. The temporary pain you feel today will be the eternal strength you will use over and over again, to overcome the hard days ahead. They won't be so hard the next time, because you will have built your faith, so you will have a stronger mindset. You will know how to put on the armor of God and resist the temptation to worry.

Wherever we go and whatever situation we find ourselves in, we will definitely be more prepared in the future. We're not just trusting anyone. We are trusting the God of this universe who loves us infinitely and what's the very best for us.

Mental toughness can be strengthened and developed by trusting God, reading our Bible more often and praying more often. These things really build our faith and even reading healthy, positive devotionals or even watching inspirational movies of faith, helps us as well. But I truly believe that reading the Bible gives us the greatest strength. His Word, truly is a Lamp unto our feet and a Light unto our path. When we trust in Him, we can never go wrong. We'll just keep building our faith day after day. It is wonderful to grow in Christ.

God bless you and have a great day. 🤗🙏🌹

@LadyGrace thank you for the uplifting message. i keep telling myself that it is in God's hands and not in mine..i will keep you posted.
LadyGrace · 70-79
@akindheart Yes dear heart, please do. I hope I was able to help in some way. Don't you worry. Hard times don't last.
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
I need to find my purpose in life. I feel very lost
@Lilliesandlight Unfortunately, that's true with so much of the healthcare industry. The system isn't broken, it was built this way.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Lilliesandlight i bet. i don't know how honestly doctors and hospitals stay in business. i see what they are paid. it is really small. plus you deal with all of the regulations
Lilliesandlight · 41-45, F
@akindheart yes and we have to have the patients abide by the regulations and they argue about it
The negative programming I got from my parents.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
Mine is to deal with more real and solid people, cut the fat out of my circle and to increase my revenue drastically once I do that I will be on the course that I need to be to get where I need to be and be what I need to be
akindheart · 61-69, F
@KingofBones1 that sounds like a solid plan. you know what you need to do to get there. good luck!

Thats how I used to be, it caused insomnia. If shit happens its going to happen. Just take one day at a time. I needed to change my mindset to stop the anxiety and its better now.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Blondily good advice. i appreciate it.

@LesDawsonsPiano it can be an addiction. i know. i have been online for a long time
LesDawsonsPiano · 70-79
@akindheart I'm currently down to three other Forums/Social Media sites. One is dedicated to Mental Health - very heavily moderated, but very supportive. Another for Progressive Christianity - basically as dead as a dodo apart from a very few old cyber-friends (I identify myself as a Pure Land Buddhist but the Moderator there knows I am harmless 😀) And then Facebook - restricted by my own preferences to friends only.

Sadly, there is - as you say - a strange addiction to popping in here even though if more often than not proves toxic.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@LesDawsonsPiano it used to be fun. i was in the middle of lots of drama but not by my own choosing. now it is not fun anymore. i don't have the time to even spend time on here...so i am glad you are limiting yourself...be safe

@akindheart Yes, but I need to cut it out completely, so fingers crossed for next year.

@SmileOnYourBrother not sure yet...
Less thinking more doing. Also acting upon stuff quicker
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Justafantasy i am not a procrastinator at all. i do believe you can become your own enemy when you overthink.
@akindheart all my regrets are from thinking about it to long and not just acting upon it.

Not necessarily procrastination, just the overthinking
