I support abortion rights. [I Am For Abortion]

Here are my top 5 reasons:
1.) A fetus lacks consciousness, and the mental capacity to be a person.
2.) Allowing women to choose makes them more equal to men.
3.) It gives women the freedom to pursue their dreams.
4.) Women who get abortions are less likely to end up in poverty or abusive situations.
5.) Legal abortion reduces poverty, crime, and other negative externalities.

Legal abortion also reduces illegal abortion which saves lives. The fact that there's still any question about abortion remaining legal, due to brainwashed people and a made up book, absolutely disgusts me.

There are so many factors that may cause a woman or a girl to seek this option.
Health related concerns for themselves and the baby should it be born.
Whether it was nonconsensual sex that got them pregnant. I think it's wrong to expect someone who has already suffered to carry then give birth to a reminder of what another did to them without their consent regardless if they put the child up for adoption it's still 9 months, 9 months that could be used to heal rather than carry their rapists child.

How about circumstances some people are either not financially stable or are in a toxic relationship how many stories have there been of children ending up dying due to neglect and abuse? If the woman is trapped in such a situation the child will also be.
For the argument of don't have sex if you don't want a child sometimes things go wrong and a lot of the beliefs that are against abortion funnily enough sometimes oppose birth control.

But honestly the main point is it's a right to choose. who are any of us to say what someone can and can't do to their own body? Can you really say you have a greater right to deny someone that right to choose?

Yup. Plus it's safer in general. Abortions will exist regardless of legality. It's far better having it carried out by medical professionals.

@basilfawlty89 I don’t care. You win the internet argument, well done arm chair intellectual.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve so what's your point then
deadgerbil · 22-25
@basilfawlty89 yup. That's what separates a fetus from a person in a coma. They are on two different levels.

And the thing is, abortions would happen regardless, so the question is why wouldn't people ensure that it's done safely?

It's still a breathing, living, growing organism. ☺️✨

@pianoplayingsteve It just sounded strange to me, but you are right. We're getting off-topic. Can either of you name a country where abortion is illegal with a first world standard of living? Because it seems from my research, countries where abortion is legal have a higher quality of living.

It's the woman's choice or it should be. End of.

Same with vaccines, my body my choice@Entwistle
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@pianoplayingsteve Depends on whether or not you refusing a vaccine affects or endangers others.

I'm not a woman so I don't have any say in this, but I'd only support an abortion if the woman's/girl's (no previous children) or mother's life was in danger.

I don't understand why people think they can tell others what they can and can't do with their bodies

I don’t
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
Medical professionals recommended my parents abort me due to the fact that I’d have health conditions when born. I’m now a piano teacher, work for the ambulance service, run several businesses and am in a relationship with a degree educated lady, quite a lot for someone who ‘is not a life’. What a crappy way to view human life.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 ‘you don’t think women get raped’. Apparently that is not strawmanning. And with that I’ve had enough today of seeing how stupid anons on the internet can be if you disagree with them.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve you didn't clarify which of my scenarios were "unrealistic". Rape and AIDS happen often here. You refuse to answer a question.

I told you I was gonna strawman you, because you're strawmanning others. All this had shown me is because you could've potentially been aborted, you're against all abortion. Hence it's a reasonable assumption based in your non replies to say you're against abortion even when the woman or child would be at risk.
