I support abortion rights. [I Am For Abortion]

Here are my top 5 reasons:
1.) A fetus lacks consciousness, and the mental capacity to be a person.
2.) Allowing women to choose makes them more equal to men.
3.) It gives women the freedom to pursue their dreams.
4.) Women who get abortions are less likely to end up in poverty or abusive situations.
5.) Legal abortion reduces poverty, crime, and other negative externalities.

Yup. Plus it's safer in general. Abortions will exist regardless of legality. It's far better having it carried out by medical professionals.

Wouldn’t it be even safer if humans never existed at all? No wars, abuse etc@deadgerbil

@pianoplayingsteve arguably for the planet, it'd be safer. Humans are like a virus and many insist on acting like we have another planet to go to.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@deadgerbil exactly humans are a plague on the earth so would you suggest aborting every body?
deadgerbil · 22-25
@pianoplayingsteve I'm for minimizing the impact of people, as humanity isn't going anywhere. It'd be great if people would embrace being green, but there's plenty of people who think all the pollution doesn't impact the planet. They typically break out in hives when confronted with anything scientific.

Just like minimizing the impact a bad pregnancy can cause. Bad pregnancies aren't going anywhere either, so it's far better to have it legalized and taken care of in that setting than to have it done in a basement.

@deadgerbil if you wish to minimize human impact, wouldn’t getting rid of humans reduce human impact a fair bit?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve small problem here is that you're comparing apples to oranges. A human being is sentient, has consciousness and can think and feel. A foetus doesn't. Hence the former is murder or in this case genocide, the latter is a medical procedure.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 an adult in a coma cannot think or feel.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve they're still sentient beings, and physically conscious, they do possess consciousness.
pianoplayingsteve · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 I don’t care. You win the internet argument, well done arm chair intellectual.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@pianoplayingsteve so what's your point then
deadgerbil · 22-25
@basilfawlty89 yup. That's what separates a fetus from a person in a coma. They are on two different levels.

And the thing is, abortions would happen regardless, so the question is why wouldn't people ensure that it's done safely?
