I think Boomers may of actually had it better then any generation that came after it...

My Mum was telling me of a Great Aunt, who didn't have a drivers licence and would put her old dog on the bus. Pay for his ticket. And he would ride the bus quite happily in his own seat till the bus came back and the driver would pull up in front of my Great Aunt's house. Even though it wasn't a stop. So the dog could go home... I cannot see this happening today. You Boomers had it made. 😅

But didn't Boomers walk to school barefoot in the snow uphill both ways?

@FloorGenAdm no we had to where thise sloppy snow boots over patent leather shoes.
We were required to wear a dress to school until about the third or fourth grade.

I’ve had this conversation with my parents. And they agree.
I remember life being nicer tbh

Yes, I believe we did..i am one. Things were calmer back then..50's, 60's and early 70's.
We could hitch hike a ride anywhere.
The bus would come and wait if you were late..nobody complained.
The cops may pull you over for poor driving...and when they knew you were drinking....they would follow you to make sure you got home safely.
Cars didn't have seat belts, but they were built like tanks.
I delivered newspapers to the neighborhoods and collected the money from each house..ALONE when I was 10 years old and it was safe.
We stood on a snow pile waiting for the bus...schools didn't close
When you put it that way....

My dog never rode the bus but he did take himself out on the occasional walk and always knew his way back home.
The dog catcher knew where he lived and would just bring him home if he saw him out.

They definitely had it easier when it came to jobs and finances. It was easier to both find and keep a job. As long as they did a good job they could stay at the same company for life. By the time I started working in the 90s that was over. Everyone was disposable and being a good employee didn't seem to mean much. Life was actually affordable. Most could afford a comfortable life on 1 salary.

It's not a speculation, they DID have it better. They arrived during a post -war economic boom and they rode it out til it dried up.

@DearAmbellina2113 baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964.
There were alot of things going on.
The gas shortage, the oil crisis, the economy wasn't good until the 80s.
Getting a job out of highschool was impossible.
Our parents knew how to budget and as kids, we learned how to fix what we had or do without.
Most of our entertainment was outside.
