Life insurance - yay or nay?

I don't have any. Only thing like it I used to have was defacto junk insurance through my super fund (like US 401k).

I cancelled it during early Covid times as I figured it's worthless.

I've not talked about life insurance with people at my work, but a lot of my workmates probably just have it through their super not a seperate stand-alone one.

I don't have income protection insurance either (because last time I tried to get it I got told my job type - freight train driver- was too high risk to insure).

It's something to consider, especially if you have dependants. My husband had two different policies and it has taken the pressure off.

Just funeral insurance. I don’t worry about the other stuff.

@Thevy29 Funerals, like weddings, are effing expensive and often lavish affairs now.

I still have a small life policy that's been going for years it a whole of life policy and it's better to keep it until I die at this point.

Life insurance is designed to cover your debts and obligations as well as funeral expenses so that those left behind are not left covering YOUR tab.

If you have no debt, you have no dependents and you have your funeral expense already paid for through advanced planning, then you do not need life insurance.
