I'm really worried about my friend and her daughter.

Her daughter isn't even a year old yet and has lost a lot of weight. To the point they've having to insert an NG tube to feed her. She's still throwing all the milk back up so they're probably gonna have to use a cannula. They're suspecting a possible autoimmune condition. Nothing determined yet.

They've been back and forth at the hospital for a while. I went to visit them when they got home like 2 weeks ago, took a gift for both her daughter and her, just something to make them smile but she sounds so discouraged in the voice notes she's sending me🥺

I know there's very little I can do but it truly sucks seeing her like this. I'm probably gonna visit again tomorrow.

My son had to be put on a specialized formula called Neocate… he couldn’t digest/break down milk protein. It was not as extreme as what you’re describing, but that was the worst my mental health has ever been, watching him suffer until they figured it out. It was terrifying

I hope your friend gets answers for her baby, and relief. You being there to listen is a huge help, I’m sure ❤

It’s one of the most devastating situations in life. It’s not fair a baby has to go through such a life threatening situation. It’s not fair a mother has to go through this. There’s not much you can do to help the situation for a better outcome but you can be supportive to your friend, letting her know you are there when needed with whatever support you can offer. I was hospitalized with my youngest but the critical moment of the stay at the hospital was luckily not longer than a couple of days. I wish for all the best for the baby and your friend. They’re lucky to have you in their lives.

Awww, I hope they can figure it out! I know how scary it can be when your baby isn't getting nutrition, we went through it with mine for several months and she got down to the 3rd percentile for weight but eventually rebounded. Hopefully your friend's child will get a diagnosis and an effective treatment soon!
Aaaawwww I'm sorry to hear that, poor baby,😥🥹🥺

I knew a lady who had the same/similar issue with her baby, her baby was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder.. It's extremely difficult on everyone and a lot of hospital time involved 🤗🤗

Oh man. I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s especially hard on parents when their babies are in NICU or the hospital. Been there before and it was rough.

Prayers for your friend and her family. 😔

Have they tried formula? I couldn’t tolerate breast milk as a baby, lost a ton of weight cause I was allergic to it.
@Younameit yeah, they've tried so many alternatives. Nothing is helping long term. She's been given dioralyte now because she's dehydrated

Just being there and providing support and presence, I'm sure is appreciated.

God that's so scary. Hope things stabilize quickly and all goes well. Babies are so fragile.

Maybe some liver disorder. I pray for her good health and long life 🙏
@ABCDEF7 Yeah, I have no idea. Could be anything. Thank you💙

Poor thing aww🥺 I wonder with the dehydration, can they put her on an IV of fluids? I hope they find the issue soon💜
