I am trying to become a better person

I wish I had someone in my life that can help me be that better version of myself. Someone to be there for me to answer questions and guide me, someone to scold me and not afraid to tell me that I made a mistake or something. Someone to give me advice in every area. I think people are always so worried that they are gonna hurt my feelings, so they like to sugar coat everything

A real friend will tell you the truth. That's what friends do, the right ones, and they shouldn't scold you like you're a little kid. But they can offer helpful advice.

I never had a real mentor growing up and I really missed out on things. I would have given anything to have one to guide me. I think that's very important. But you have to be careful who you choose as a mentor. Sadly, some are unstable and they can give you the wrong advice, which in turn will do nothing but mess your life up so you have to choose wisely.

You can do all these things yourself! You're already self-aware and that's a perfect starting point. Journaling also helps to be a better version of you!

I've felt like this since I was 20. But it would have to be someone I truly respect and look up to and trust that he or she does it to benefit me not just themselves.
Because you know, you can hand yourself over to some religious cult wacko and let them organize your entire life...to their benefit, not yours.

I don’t sugar coat stuff, I’ll say it how it is, if you need advice?

That post that you made of that bedroom hoarding situation, if it was true, then everyone in your circle has failed you. You have to take responsibility and take the initiative and you have to want to be helped. Start by cleaning up that mess. If you are serious about wanting help, start there! You responded to someone in that post saying that you are just lazy, as if you were proud of living in a pig sty. Prove them wrong!

You can start reading self help books from the library, for starters.
