Do you loose your friends once they have babies

It's happened with my sisters and with friends too
They have a whole new set of priorities

People with kids, don't forget your friends 👋🏼

Bold of you to assume I had friends to loose in the first place 😂😭
SW-User
@SexyBabyGirl152307 thank you for the perspective...:)
SexyBabyGirl152307 · 31-35, F
@SW-User am a guru - a shit guru 😂
SW-User
@SexyBabyGirl152307 we've a few things in common I see 😏
HoeBag · 51-55, F
Even once someone gets into a serious relationship, let alone marriage or have kids, they pretty much get domesticated into non-existence.
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@SW-User I think it is why so many over 40 are divorced. People decide they want their lives back.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
@HoeBag idk y it's true
HoeBag · 51-55, F
@Donotfolowme The way I heard it put -

We spend the first half of our lives living for everyone else. School, work, raising a family, rat race,
So then the second half. we want to live our lives for us.
Jessmari · 46-50, T
Not always true. They seem to remember you when they need money or a babysitter.
Browneyesarebest79 · 46-50, F
I didn't want children. Those of my friends who had children have developed different friendships with other parents who are involved in activities with their children. It's ok. I'm not offended. We just have different lives and priorities
HumanEarth · F
Some, they developed I'm too good for you personality and just slowly faded out of my life.

Funny thing is. Before kids you couldn't separate us, even with a nuclear bomb.

I just got a call that they are not doing okay. Time to be the grown up and make 4 hour drive back to my hometown
SW-User
It's natural in a way. Their priorities have to change. Though I sometimes love listening to my one friend who talks about our mutual friend, notice how I didn't do this and it's always about how he has a child. Well my friend's answer to that, I had kids so I know better, you can still see friends, and he's just using this as an excuse our other friend.
SW-User
@SW-User yes indeed.. their priorities change..
SW-User
@SW-User Yes even in ways sometimes other parents can see. That was my enjoyment in listening to my one friend.
I usually don't make friends and those who friended with, it always last. It's like investing your precious time on them and I value their time as well myn. Those who I have call friends, I always stick to them. Never lost a friend.
SW-User
Of course 💁‍♂. I don’t think we loose them as such. Perhaps they loose us as there lives take on a whole new direction. It has to, the children must always come first 😊
SW-User
@SW-User yes ...
Yes, I've lost touch completely with many of them the day they gave birth.
@SW-User maybe to some extent, but responsibilities change a whole lot too. Caring for a baby 24/7 is exhausting, so it makes sense that other things have to move aside for that. But it's still a shame how volatile friendships are in that regard.
SW-User
@NerdyPotato I totally understand them... But I have to let go and carry on.
This happened with so many of my friends
@SW-User it makes perfect sense, but it still hurts. Hurt isn't going to change the situation though, so trying to let go is the best option indeed.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
Parenting makes you a whole new person i guess.
SW-User
@WandererTony it does doesn't it ...
Some days I'm wandering if it's ever possible to become an adult without having children..
Bit harsh on myself but true thoughts
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@SW-User Sorry. Didnt mean that. 😔
SW-User
@WandererTony no worries at all Tony, is a reality!
thepeculiarpanda · 36-40, M
Yup. I just kinda lose friends in general. Never been good at keeping them around.
SW-User
@thepeculiarpanda yes true...
Once they’re married to be precisely.
Jenny1234 · 56-60, F
it definitely happens
SW-User
@Jenny1234 yes it does and it's natural too.. I'm just saying..
SW-User
It happens, you just become an auntie and spend more at her place. ☺
SW-User
@SW-User yes...
SW-User
SW-User
Yes but also flipside, childess friends expected me to be as available as before child
SW-User
@SW-User maybe i don't "totally understand what you mean"
..
What can I do, other than, try to understand..
SW-User
@SW-User Of course :) I lost many friends because they couldnt understand what I had been through. It happens.
SW-User
@SW-User I'll try to take this less personal and let time show us the way...
Bang5luts · M
Only if they have babies with one of my exs.
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
It's hard to maintain. I have lost friends once they got married.
SW-User
@Donotfolowme me too.. married, having children.. apparently it's the natural cycle of life.. but for those left behind, it is what it is..
