Absolutely not. A lot of them work long hours at low or minimum wages.

No … many people under the poverty line including myself that grind and have 2 or three incomes plus mouths to feed.

If you aren’t doing anything with yourself to better your circumstances and just give up and say “I’m the victim” then I will call you lazy.

No. Some of the hardest working people there are are still below the poverty line. Some of the laziest people are coasting on family wealth—because they can.

@bijouxbroussard Especially white people. Most Blacks worked hard for their wealth, but with many white people, most of them simply inherited it or married into it.

I own a farm, work from sun up to sun down most days. Plus used to work a factory job.

I lost almost everything when I ended up with Epilepsy. Lost my job for medical discrimination, and now I have a lawsuit against my former employer. It is going to jury trial.

That's why I'm broke. My wife can't work anymore, she has a brain tumor and can't collect SSI. (Don't know why) The farm is the only thing I have that is barely holding us afloat.

Sure, I have applied for many jobs. But soon as my epilepsy shows up in the medical background check. I lose the job offer. So I am trying to figure out a way that I make more money off my farm without killing myself at the same time.

So I am far from being lazy

@HumanEarth from what I know about disability is you must file more than once that is what I’m told. They always turn down the first attempt. Is what I’m told. Sometimes you must fight them. And then you will get a lump sum. Everything they owe you from when you first filed. I head of it this way a few times. So I’m just saying.

Not at all. Hard working people in regular day jobs can still be poor. Hard working fully qualified nurses tend to remain poor all of their careers because nursing is a vocational job. As is teaching, being a police officer, being a fire fighter, paramedic.

A married couple where one is a nurse and the other is a teacher could both be considered poor even though they both work full time.

@Spoiledbrat Of course [i]some[/i] do. But most well off people are not dealing with life and death on a daily basis. And a lot of really wealthy people inherited their wealth.

@Spoiledbrat No .. they just pretend to work hard. Just spending all the time in office or business, does not mean hard work. It is just to invite all the youngsters to steal their ideas or make them earn 4x the amount paid to them, and later cheat them by saying performance is no good, next time try harder and not grant the bonus. Yes it takes a lot of their time.

I think many make bad financial decisions. Just cuz the person is rich doesn't mean they have work ethic. A lot of rich people are scammers.

I don't know about lazy but lack ambition maybe. But everyone has been dished different circumstances, and some are hard to get out from under.

For the most part yes, all you have to see to realize it is to see someone who comes from a place of extreme poverty and no opportunities flourish when they get to the US.
