Gen Z person refuses to work at 8 am, his boss is mad.

I'm sorry but Gen Z is just smarter, they know enough about corrupt employers that they won't be push overs as everything is freely available to look up. That's the issue here when employers get all hurt want to complain on live TV, talk about cringe.

The way this guy handled his irresponsible employer was good though, I liked his response. If it's a 9 am start day, it's 9 am, if it's 8 am it's 8 am. As a person who is recently looking for a job, I can't tell people how much businesses are lying about everything literally. It should be illegal with how much they lie 🤥 honestly.

People are tired of the work force like Gen Z, they know their worth. They are over worked, underpaid and they know this.

We can talk all day about how we're working harder because the system is screwing us over and because of corruption we now gotta work 8 to 16 hours, six days a week almost to make ends meet, when it wasn't that much before but that's not the point.

The point is that Gen Z knows their worth and is not having it, so good on them.

Just putting this out there.

Humans are the only animals that pay for the privilege of being on this planet.

@OogieBoogie Oh me too. Actually the more freedom I have, the more I actually want to work. I've found that while I don't have a job at the moment, driving for GoPuff, door dash, Uber eats... actually made me care about customer ratings because it was like working for myself. Even when I was originally the worst at customer service.

I noticed that when I myself own something, it kind of hits differently. So I wouldn't doubt that studies show that about longer breaks and I'm not surprised but it would be greed, I suspect you're right.

Though the issue with those delivery services is that they don't pay well enough in my area to make a job out of it. But you get the idea.
@SatanBurger
Actually the more freedom I have, the more I actually want to work.
I'm the same way. I want to start doing creative shit again, but I'm spending all my time doing bullshit for my dad instead. And when I'm not doing stuff for him, I'm waiting for him.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@LordShadowfire Yes you get me I feel.

Boomers are such a weird generation. They want you to bend over backwards for them and be strong, but they themselves are divas over every little thing that goes wrong.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Rolexeo @CestManan @Oster1 Y'all are killing me over here lmfao
Oster1 · M
@CestManan It happened.
Oster1 · M
@CestManan Many people, strived to get ahead, and prosper. Many sacrifices, were made!
We all have options. My bills gotta get paid, my kids need to eat. That’s why I go to work. Not because I like it. Because of responsibility and commitment. I don’t expect everyone to understand.
Human1000 · M
@SatanBurger I’m guessing Mr. “Quit this job and shove it” surely has other income. What a hero!

FYI, I’m exempt, so don’t have a start time.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Human1000 You are so triggered lol.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy Flexible schedules are hard to come by though.
CestManan · 46-50, F
For the boomers - yeah they could work a modest job and make a good living.
Gen X and millenials pretty much got screwed over.
Gen Z sees what happened to Gen X and older millenials so Gen Z already knows that hard work for some company that does not give a sh*t about them is a waste.

Gen X and older millenials were of course fed the lie about "the value of hard work".
Gen Z already knows, from our example, not to listen to BS.
Human1000 · M
@CestManan They should listen to the BS unless they can live with their parents who did.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@Human1000 More and more though the case is you work so hard in return for so little.

People want to see results of their efforts. They do not want to hear, "Oh it will pay off someday."

Especially when "someday" is suppose to be here but then you find out there was ONE MORE thing you just didn't do. You didn't do the right kind of work, you don't know the right people, something always amiss.

Or whatever knowledge, skills, and hard work you acquired just are not relevant anymore.
Or how you work for years to earn something and somehow it all gets destroyed in an instant.

These days I do just enough to get by, unless it is something I do for leisure and not expecting some grand reward.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
Working was pushed on me very early. I started a job when I was 12, worked all through high school and college and typically worked in labor jobs. Often times one full-time one part-time to make ends meet. Now I'm burnt the frick out and don't even care what job I have because I know once they realize I'm smart and I hustle they'll use me up.

Most employers just use you and remind you how replaceable you are. I don't bust ass for anyone anymore except myself.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@AlchemyFox Yes that's where I'm at now, I've had so many employers straight up lie that I just can't with them anymore.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
What? You sign the contract you agree with its content. One or the other side breaks the contract, there are consequences. You don't agree with the contract, you won't take the job. Where's the problem?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Human1000 If you go to work to do your hours, why should I pay you back for my own hours worked? Lmfao.
Human1000 · M
@SatanBurger Sorry, not following...
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Human1000 Same to you lol.
I think the worst thing about this situation, is the lack of compromise and communication.

Sometimes things happen: mistakes, needs, emergencies and general 'life'.

When these arrise - this is where working together to find a solution helps .
It an opportunity to start building a 'work relationship'- being professional .

Rather than both being so agressive,
how about;

- offering Leaving early?
-offer Overtime ?
-Acknowledging an IOU for a favour the employee might need in the future?
-Time in lieu off?

There are so many solitions to this situation besides people making assumptions and being full of resistance.

I think both are wrong in their approach and reaction to this .

Its these attitudes that make work a shit place instead of a friendly place.😔

@OogieBoogie So true. 🙂

8 am is way to late to go to work. I did 6 am for many years. Now the last 4 have been 4 am.
Jonjdw · 46-50, M
@LordShadowfire it is the time my work gave me. It was not always like that I was second shift for 4 years. Been there 22 years now. My department went from 6 am to 4 am. But nice to be done at work at 12:30 pm. When others are on lunch.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Jonjdw I guess there aren't many jobs that would require such weird time though.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Jonjdw I don't think the start time really matters, it's just that businesses have unrealistic expectations regarding employees. It's shown that employers will discriminate against people who have kids for the reason that work knows kids come first.

If they had it their way and let's say there were no laws, you'd find a much different story regarding labor.

Like in countries without labor laws, people live in the factories they work. There was a 12 year old boy who was Muslim and worked in a factory for 12 hours a day to support his family and he ended up getting beaten to death by some of the adult workers there.

Wish I could remember who that was, honestly I read about it by looking up a company I didn't know and found that story years back related to that company.

So if work has it their way, we'd all be chained literally. That's not even an exaggeration, you see it in countries with no labor laws so they try to get away with as much as possible.

Lying about wages, lying about hours, etc is just really what people know and are tired of
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
My parents are the baby boomer generation and they had it drilled into them that they work hard and sacrifice their family to get things done. Work is number one.

I am a Millennial so I started out with that thinking and as I worked with younger generations I can see their point. You only have one life to live and you don’t owe all of it to your employer.

I sacrificed my own health and well being for my employer. For what? They don’t care about my well being. All they want is productivity.

There has to be work/life balance and no one should be a slave to their employer.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SatanBurger it’s a complete lie but that’s why you see the older generation saying that the newer generation are lazy.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@iamonfire696 you think that the older generation would eventually catch on due to stuff being more out there than it was before but I guess they are selective and shows you can still be in a bubble
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SatanBurger They don’t, they still think kids should be able to buy houses, get married and have kids.

It’s way too expensive to do any of that nowadays.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
Poor baby, has to be at work on time. Grow up
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@Patriot96 If it's 9, it's 9. That is on time, you're not required to be a slave for work 24/7, people got lives.
Oster1 · M
Sorry, I don't care! Even animals know, to not shat. the nest! 🙄
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
Life has no point and nobody knows why tf we are here. Why do we then need to make ourselves slaves?
Human1000 · M
What a winner.
