Can anyone explain why Organic vegetable are more expensive the chemically grown ones?

Here you go, this tomato was grown in the sun without expensive fertilizer, pesticides or manure or any of that pricey shit. $10
Or you can have that other type for 50 cents...🤨

I'm of the opinion that the entire 'organic is better' stuff is just an excuse that somebody came up with to charge more for pretty much the same product minus the expense of the chemicals that would see it look better.

Only instead of the chemicals you pay extras for those tending the crop

Probably it's harder to grow it without the plant dying

Because they hire people to keep watch on every single vegetable to check for bugs.🐛 lol
@Blondily You're on a roll this morning, kaiser or cinnamon?

@NativePortlander1970 Neither until they get inspected by the organic vegetable police 🚔 lol

All those chemicals produce a better and faster and more consistent yield.
Meanwhile, the organic version takes more labor, takes longer to grow and yield less per acre. Also non organic have longer shelf lives which means less waste.
Production scale, I bet.

Because people are willing to pay for "organic" -- even though there is no actual legal definition of the term or what can be sold as "organic".

I think it has something to do with the higher rate of product losses since it’s not protected by the pesticides, gmo modifications, etc.

Of course, the other part is just plain greed.
Organic is anething they want it to be like movies 'based on a true story' can mean it was the same names

Spit and anything 'more' healtjy costs more

Because the people who want to buy "organic" produce are stupid enough to pay for it.😷
