How old were you when your parent/s let you walk to school for the first time? And would you let your kids walk to school at that age now?

WillaKissing · 56-60
When I was a kid attending kinder Garten in 1970 we walked to school rain or shine, that was just how it was back then. And other parents along the way watch out for all of the kids and would outwardly confront or beat down anyone messing with the kids walking to school, and then call the police.

But in today's hide your head behind your closed-door society like and ostrich in the sand, I would drive my kids to school or walk with them daily.

First grade, it was only a few blocks.

If it was the same distance, I'd have let my kid walk home but not to school in 1st ... maybe wait to 3rd grade to trust they'll go straight to school without lollygagging.

9 or 10 and I fought for it because I saw how much fun my schoolmates had arriving together from a bus stop and I felt left out. We had to take a bus and then a tram.

10? The school had a bus service but once I shifted house the school bus route didn't cover that area
