Trying to find meaning in a life that has no meaning. Not sure where to turn. Considered going south for a job that would be more fun with no customer

service interaction, but feeling like I'm too old for the work. It would only be seasonal any way. Can't pass a drug test, don't know what to do with myself. So I slowly commit suicide smoking cigarettes for a painful death. What's the point?

Take baby steps. First, you must get off the drugs. It’s holding you back. I’m not going to tell you life is roses and rainbows because it’s not. It’s hard! Damn hard for many of us. I honestly don’t know how I’m still here. I should have topped myself years ago, but there was always a thread to hold onto. I don’t know what your thread is, but it could be just a hope in a better tomorrow. It won’t be easy. It may be like a roller coaster, but keep taking one step at a time to make your life today, a tiny bit better than it was yesterday. Here is me giving you advice, and my heart is broken. You have one thing I don’t have ... time and youth. Please take advantage of this. God bless. 🙏

@Carissimi thanks, I’m sorry your heart is broken.

One of the hardest things about changing is breaking through that hopeless feeling. Consider that you are not the only one who has gone through a funky depression and "what's the use" feeling. People have gotten out of it and you can too. But you have to want it. Yup, getting off the drugs is the first thing. Before that is accepting it's kicked your butt and you can't do it alone. Reach out to 12-step groups. It will feel weird at first but you are not unique even though you may think you are.

@rfatoday 12 step group good advice.

Trying to find meaning in a life that has no meaning

Aboo - I read the titles of your posts.
You have the attention span of a gnat.
If you are serious about joining society, you are going to have to get off drugs.
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@Budwick I just post what’s on my mind and don’t post about my day to day life. I laugh at the attention span thing. 😂 I’m feeling slightly better right now. Thanks for the advice

Well if you're open to travelling you can do those tourist jobs ik ppl from my old school who have so much fun through all that, but yeah personally i can relate bc I'm too old now as my youth (17-21) is over and im too washed up and old to do anything new so whats the point
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@SW-User I'm not afraid to try new things, I just lack any friends to do new things with. Loneliness is my biggest hindrance in life. I don't talk much to ppl, but am trying to break free of my own constraints. Sometimes trying to break free of my constraints I start wondering what's the point of life and consider ending it.
I stopped looking for meaning in life and started looking for stuff to do. Still suicidal, nowhere near as often
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@Justafantasy I go to work and spend a good portion of the day assisting customers or working in the back and dropping everything I’m doing to help customers who don’t really care what’s going on in your mind. Can’t really afford to go out and do stuff. There’s nothing I can do around my apartment like garden or tend to animals like I used to do.
@MrAboo perfect age to take up skateboarding

Too old? You’re still young
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@zerofuks2give turning 35 next month. I don’t think I can make myself live on a fishing boat.
candycane · 31-35, F
Stop smoking and go have fun with that extra money
MrAboo · 36-40, M
@candycane might be $40 on cigarettes. Just not sure what to do
candycane · 31-35, F
@MrAboo yeah that's only quarter tank of gas
