Technically illegal here! On a drive test, they simply won't let you drive bare footed here. They will insist you put flat shoes on before they will test you.

Note the flat shoes! NO High heals either!

In Australia and or New Zealand it is not illegal to drive with bare feet or Jandals/Thongs/Flip Flops.

Personally I think Bare Feet are safer than Flip Flops.

However if your footwear compromises your ability to drive safely there are charges you may face if you have an accident.

Almost everyone wears shoes here when they drive 🤔

When I was learning to drive the "Urban Myth" was that you could be arrested for driving barefoot. I always drove with shoes or boots on anyway.

Well driving barefoot is illegal in some places, but I don't know how law enforcement would find out unless during a traffic stop.

I drive barefoot sometimes, but didn't learn to drive with bare feet.

I was taught that driving with anything other that a lace up shoe is dangerous

I like bare feet unless I’m going on the highway.

I always drive with feet bare, including when I was learning and on my test.I can feel everything,when the clutch engages,when the brakes touch the discs.By driving with my feet bare I am better connected to my car and it gives me superb control.

It's illegal here -- I think the law was written because the legislators were afraid people's bare feet would slip off the pedals.

I have to wear shoes when I drive. Sometimes I will quickly go out without shoes and move my car so my mom can drive her car out of the garage, and it feels so haphazard 😅

One time my Uber driver wasn’t wearing any shoes and I was disgusted

I think it's more Ladies thingy as I have seen my aunt and few more do that. But I don't and most men never do.

I always drive with my hands. I never developed a system for how to operate the gas and break peddles with my feet on the steering wheel.

I've been driving in my bare feet ever since I got my driver's license. 👣

Over here you can get fined if you do lol, or worse, if you cause a crash the insurance company may refuse to pay.

I sometimes drive barefoot or with socks on, I’m good at driving so that’s no big deal

Due to all of the comments here I became curious as to if it was actually illegal in the USA so I looked it up.

Growing up every adult told me never to drive without shoes and I assumed that it was probably illegal but.... its not.

I am more prone to jerky movements with bare feet. I had a family friend that always took her shoes off to drive. She is the only person I have known to do this.

No. I never drove barefoot because I never went out barefoot. I kind of doubt it would’ve made any difference in the way I drive. 😳
