Technically illegal here! On a drive test, they simply won't let you drive bare footed here. They will insist you put flat shoes on before they will test you.
Note the flat shoes! NO High heals either!

@DeWayfarer Where are you?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Notladylike California, USA! Licensing goes by states!
@DeWayfarer Well there you go. Bare foot driving is the best. Sorry you are missing out
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Notladylike In California's defense, so it's the same in Texas and Wyoming! Can't say about any other state since I never was there long enough to get a new license.

@DeWayfarer I think it's illegal everywhere in the US
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@SW-User If you don't have arms you can drive with bare feet.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SW-User every states driving code laws is different. Even the age where a teen can drive is different. For instance my niece could drive by herself in Iowa at 15 where in California it's 15 and a half.
Not saying that's not true, yet I just wouldn't be so certain about EVERY state. And I have been to forty of the fifty states. The driving laws are different in each state.

@DeWayfarer well I know. I've been to 46 states but I never checked the driving laws at each. I realize that laws are different.

@SW-User I have held driving licenses in three of them as well! 🤷♂️
Believe I have already mentioned that. And still I'm not certain.

@SW-User I tried to find out a while ago and as far as I can tell it is not illegal to drive barefoot in any US state.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@ninalanyon they simply won't let you on a "drive test"! I know a few that have tried in California!
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@DeWayfarer That doesn't mean it is illegal to drive barefoot, just that the examiners have the usual irrational US fear of feet.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@ninalanyon and it doesn't mean it is legal either! 🤷♂️
In California I'm farely certain it's illegal! Unless there is some type of medical situation and that would have to be mentioned on the drivers license. Like disabled! Which would require a medical excuse from a practicing doctor.
Same situation with all kinds disabilities. It's mentioned on a driver's license in some way.
Note this is not true in other states! It doesn't "have" to be mentioned on a driver's license.
