Do people use/check their phones while driving in your Country?

It is very prevalent here in Perth.
At traffic lights, you see them with their eyes diverted down, surreptitiously looking up occasionally, hoping no cops are around.
Almost always, they miss the change of lights and are left behind, whilst the vehicle behind them waits patiently or impatiently blasts the horn

Yes they do! I don't do it and when I was to meet someone they called and because I was driving I ignored it. When I got to my destination they mentioned they called when I remarked that I was driving they appeared surprised.

@curiosi I admit I used to do it years ago. Not for more than a decade now though.

@Gusman Same, I have noticed lots of issues with people driving and felt it prudent to be extra cautious.

Yes they do. What’s annoying are the ones who check their phones while driving on the interstate highway…. And think they can compensate for bad driving by going 20mph below the speed limit.

Yes, because there is no real deterrent

Make it an instant & automatic full driving ban/disqualification

Then they won’t do it

@Gusman Selfish idiots on mobile phones cause more RTC’s than those guilty of DUI

It’s 6 penalty points & a £200 fine here in the U.K.

@Gusman From what I understand, all the police (and some of the military) in Australia are out enforcing Covid regulations. That could explain the lack of police patrolling the traffic.

@ProfessorPlum77 It is rare to see a Police Car on the roads these days, very rare.

I must confess: If I KNOW someone in front of me who is stopped waiting at a light does not move when it changes because they are, apparently, texting, on a few occasions I have BLASTED them with the horn.

Yeah and I hate it when they do that >.>

Like, can't the phone wait til you stop driving?
I might glance at it during a stop light but I don't miss the light.
The cord isn't long enough to make it to the front door, let alone the car.

Do it nonstop ngl.

@Alison I'm laughing at the responses here *laughs*.

At least I'm not a judgemental jerk and I'm honest.
Sure I'm highway dangerous but am I the better person? *laughs*.
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
yes, my mom does it all the time.
Got a headset / voice command
HellsBelle · 31-35, F
yep. america
travelguy01 · 41-45, M
Constantly here. Even on major highways.
