Do people use/check their phones while driving in your Country?

It is very prevalent here in Perth.
At traffic lights, you see them with their eyes diverted down, surreptitiously looking up occasionally, hoping no cops are around.
Almost always, they miss the change of lights and are left behind, whilst the vehicle behind them waits patiently or impatiently blasts the horn

Yes, because there is no real deterrent

Make it an instant & automatic full driving ban/disqualification

Then they won’t do it

@BalmyNites Here in Perth it is a $1000 fine plus 4 demerits.
But getting caught is almost impossible with the lack of Police on the roads.
There are stationary cameras at traffic lights that will catch them, not sure how many of those cameras there are though.

@Gusman Selfish idiots on mobile phones cause more RTC’s than those guilty of DUI

It’s 6 penalty points & a £200 fine here in the U.K.

@Gusman From what I understand, all the police (and some of the military) in Australia are out enforcing Covid regulations. That could explain the lack of police patrolling the traffic.

@ProfessorPlum77 It is rare to see a Police Car on the roads these days, very rare.
