What is ‘woke’?

BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
"Woke" began as a term that people used to refer to themselves or others who are aware and conscious of issues relating to social justice, stuff like systemic racism or LGBT rights. But over time, the people who self-described as being "woke" got increasingly silly and considered themselves woke for hyper-specific and relatively unimportant or even nonexistent things. So these days, it's mostly used in a sort of ironic way. Like it's a pejorative term used to refer to people who think they're really cutting edge and progressive and forward-thinking, but they actually aren't.

@LvChris I'm especially fond of people who think they're cool for using it but end up looking stupid lol

@BlueMetalChick
What about the conservative Trumpers calling people "woke SJW snowflakes?"
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Syntonic That's a good example of people latching onto a term that they just heard from it being popular and forgetting that it means something other than "person I dislike."

If you brows around here you will find people that think racism isn’t active with institutions or people. They will think that #Alllivesmatter is an institution equal to #BlackLivesMatter and not realize that it is a part of the problem.
There is a chance in the news where they might realize that the death of George Floyd was a modern day lynching. It is still an important term since there are way too many racists active in society. An example would be the Georgia Governor kemp signing into law something not “woke” or more institutional racism signed into law in front of a southern plantation painting while a black state representative was arrested for knocking on the door, January 6 was another example while racists will protect that terrorism when a confederate flag was flown inside the Capitol. I served 22 years in the U.S. Navy for a country that arrested these type of racists.

The “Woke” persons take these violations of law seriously!

The trouble is that there are elitist organisations that are social architects and they are trying to put gaps between the generations in a dystopian way to erase anything the older generation did in order to remove perceived opposition, but when you have a written constitution they have to be more artful and make a big show to force through legislative changes to erase rights but with the population consenting without realising what’s happening. Look at the 9/11 changes to American constitutional rights through the Homeland Act! Here in France Macron and his predecessor have also tried this but there were riots on the streets of Paris and other cities .

There's an idea of "wokeness" as someone being "aware of prejudice and privilege", however in a negative sense it can mean being ultra sensitive to the point of dysfunction

Its for people that want to ruin the American way of life and to leave out God , so they feel like there not guilty .
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Well, leaving out god IS there American way, but a lot of "woke" shit is inherently anti-American.

There are patterns and repetitions in life that entail occurrences. And there are some people who recognize this

A flag of sorts. Seen with pride by those who wear it, and a target by those who associate it with their enemies.

Forget it, it's all related to cancel culture and new age touchy feely stuff.
