How technological is your home?

SteelHands · 61-69, M
Every wall has an embedded faraday screen and there's a network repeater through every line of sight doorway. The yard is converted by dozens of hidden and visible nest, wink and cctv monitors and there is a pulse generated electric field that can shut down any trespassers electronics. The power feeds have static and flash protection and every room has 2, an led and an ir backup for improved thermal cam visibility. Although the pitbulls can see very well with their noses, can't rule out some fkn animal hurting a dog.

There are three environmental controls that can be controlled and monitored from an android phone, just like the front drive up and doorbell. The media room has a 5' hidef computer interface flat panel for multi channel viewing. Three laptops, a couple phone lines, one pair of frs split channel comm devices, 40 channel high watt walkietalkies, and a few other listening devices.

I just installed several high power green beams and will have three shf personnel deterrent walls completed by spring.

A friend of mine showed me his plans and partially completed build for an underground aircraft and armored vehicle storage. I was going to do that until my exes sisters ex said he'd help me build a small helicopter like his that I can park in a treetop.

Not much yet. But I've seen some really heavy tech in the wealthy babies homes and they're impressive. I wouldn't want to go wandering into their estates with ill intent. I only have a couple dogs. Not a whole farm full of hungry stock.

Well. That's all. What's my prize?
It still has an old 30 amp fuse box like this one
@ProdigalSummer I get that, most of my rentals had the same and was part of the charm--except when running the micro and the dryer at same time.
You wont foot the bill at replacement at least--which isn't cheap!
@SethGreene531 only the hot water heater is on it. The rest of the house is on an updated panel. Its fine as long as we don't try to run the washer, dishwasher and shower simultaneously.
@ProdigalSummer That makes sense. I've yet to switch to electric, it's all gas. But the dryer stove/AC combo used to do it.
The old box was from the 40's and back fed mains current through the electric stove, dimming the lights as I turned my soup up and down.🚒

Not much. It's a farm at the end of a telephone line that is connected by 45 poles to where the lines go underground. And no one remembers the lines being changed.
I am in college online but I cannot upload pictures to my work!
We don't get tv but I can get iPlayer so I see the progs which were broadcast a week ago. I love Dad's Army. It makes me laugh. And Michael Palin in the Himalaya. It's so interesting.

Fairly. But as a Cybersecurity student (Aside from being broke), well, the going theme is that Cybersecurity people don't like extra devices in their homes, because it opens up a lot of avenues of attack.

That said, I really appreciate the convenience of a lot of those Smart Home devices. Like, I'm not sure I could live without my iShark vacuuming robot. The floors are perpetually clean with minimal effort.

And it uses AES-256 encryption, which has yet to be broken. Even so, thinking about it, you have a device which has a...fucking camera on it, going through your entire home. The security has to be paramount and extremely.

Fundamental notion in Security is that you can increase the resources it takes to break your defenses--but, you can never fully protect a vulnerability.

I.e. As convenience goes up, security goes down.

Even so, I wanna get one of those smart thermostats, because I get tired of changing the thermostat from 67F to 72F in the morning!

No very.. I'm not a techy gadget sort of person. I brought one of those new Alexa's with the screen . Thought it would be interesting to have I keep it in the bedroom. It was 'interesting '

For the first week or so, now I've switched the microphone and camera off and just use it has a large faced clock... which I cover every night .. because the screen is as bright as daylight . Should give it away really😜

It is an old home, so I'd say its infrastructure is old but it has been cosmetically adjusted to pass as modern.
Just discovered flexibility of wi fi. Got first true laptop. Never owned a smartphone.

Not at all. I watch TV with an antenna and still have an 8-track player.
Minimally. I have a tv, stereo, computers and internet. Nothing voice activated.
