What do you do when seething with anger?

I usually go for a walk and stargaze. Unfortunately that hasn't helped on this particular occasion and I still want to cave someone's skull in with a rock. What are your personal anger defusing methods?

Peaceful · F
Literally screaming, guttural sounds are preferable...going to my closest friends and talking about it and last resort, yet highly effective extreme physical exertion.
Peaceful · F
@UndeadPrivateer nope, get it out physically. You have to.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Peaceful You may have a point, I need to find a decent physical outlet somewhere. My blood pressure is through the roof, I've got some pretty intense pulsatile tinnitus going.
Peaceful · F
@UndeadPrivateer it is imperative. :(
SW-User
I'll either do something physically strenuous or sit very still somewhere alone and consciously try give myself a 'stand down'.
I cannot be with anyone when I am seething angry.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer you need to get it out physically then. Can you go for a run?
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User Around here? Lolno. That actually got the first chuckle out of me since I've been seething, so seriously thanks for that. The roads and sidewalks here are horribly uneven due to earthquakes and it's dark. Running now would be a recipe for accidental injury.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer now that you have your first chuckle maybe watch something funny that can occupy your mind until the worst passes.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
Lift weights, run the roads or smack up the punching bag. I keep going until I have no energy to be angry any more. Its hard to be angry when you're exhausted lol.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@5thApprentice One of these days I really need to invest in a punching bag.
5thApprentice · 31-35, M
@UndeadPrivateer Or even just get like a sack and fill it up with old clothes/rags and sand/dirt + some gloves. As long as whatever you're hitting doesn't break lol. Its a good investment though. Hope you feel better though, man, stay frosty.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@5thApprentice Thanks, bud. It is appreciated.

Elaborate revenge plots.

I take a long, deep breath, think of the people I love, solely count to ten, and hide the body.
XReaganX · 26-30, F
I workout, rest, and workout again til I'm too tired to feel anything. If I can't do that I'll hide myself away...it gets worse from there.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@XReaganX Yeah, that's been the prelude to me drinking myself nearly to death in the past. Definitely trying to avoid that.
XReaganX · 26-30, F
Gusman · 61-69, M
Get away from the situation. Walk off the anger for how ever long it takes.
Though these days I do not stay in the situation long enough to get to seething point.
SW-User
I sleep or blast some music and try to stay out of trouble.

Passing over to the other side

I took that photo last month in Colorado.
Nineateseven · 26-30, F
I workout or i cook... :/ weird i know
Nineateseven · 26-30, F
Well the working out is not weird for me but the cooking is 😅
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Nineateseven I get it, personally. It's a fairly meditative task. That's why I usually go with stargazing.
Nineateseven · 26-30, F
@UndeadPrivateer my cousin said i cook well when im angry 😂
xSharp · 31-35, M
i listen to my anger response and correct the problem that caused it
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Walking and stargazing sounds about right. I also cook or clean, or listen to satisfyingly loud music while shooting people online. Sometimes playing music but rarely. Also a drink or two helps. I never drink when sad but angry? Sure. Whiskey is good for angry.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@CountScrofula Last time I did that I drank over half the bottle in a matter of a couple hours. Not so sure I wanna go the whiskey route.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@UndeadPrivateer ... Yeah skip the whiskey.
SW-User
I come here
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User I'm a step ahead of you on that one.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer no wonder why I get into SW bitch fights 🤩
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@Spoiledbrat Already had a verbal explosion, that didn't help either. :/
SW-User
Smashing objects and saying sorry to them afterwards...
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User You're far more apologetic in your anger than I.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer I learned from the Canadians
SW-User
Long walks, and lots of open space where no one or any breakable objects are in my sight. Put my headphones on and blast some heavy hard hitting deathcore full volume, and sometimes I destroy my punching bag too.
I walk ... as far as I think need to ... because double that distance is then truly far enough.
I just cry like a little bitch 😔
@UndeadPrivateer my mom does that to my little brother a lot as well even if he were to fall and hurt himself and im always just thinking damn hes a little boy let him cry, i understand not wanting your son to he a "punk " and cry for anything (like me 😊) but still lol its ok for them to cry at times nothing wrong with that
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@silentkillx2 My home life has never been great, a lot of my crying was related to that. Right around 5 was when my parents divorced.
@UndeadPrivateer sorry 😔
Various methods... I can usually bottle my anger up well enough to divert energy flow to more creative and constructive outlets. However, in a rare flash of fury and rage, I might be more inclined to:

- grab a belt and whip the shit outta my mattress
- make animal noises
- want to break stuff but then find a dark place to hurt myself instead
- get in my car (bad idea, could be dangerous) and find a park to hide in, screaming to loud music on the way over
- cry
- masturbate
@UndeadPrivateer Good luck with yer drinkin'! We can only try our best. I like to play with my cat when feeling shitty. He enjoys it... This is like passive advice-giving lmao you're strong tho
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@lovelywarpedlemon I'm just trying my best not to snap again, honestly. Because I know from the past each successive snapping gets increasingly intense.
@UndeadPrivateer That tends to be the case, I've found, in my own internal struggles and being a witness to others'... For those unsolvable issues... Not sure I can give any advice you haven't heard. Reach out to those who are there for you. And we're here for ya. Whatever that means.
I go for a brisk walk, or...there are some piano pieces I can only really play well when I’m furious, like this one...

Lol playing GTA but not by missions but killing as many cops as I could and try to live through the 5 star wanted level, makes me realise I have serious anger issues 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣@BabyLonia
SW-User
I have learned ways to lessen it quick. It doesn't affect me the way it used to. That doesn't give anyone a license to fuck with me though.
